About this Cook
I am a working Mom of one (I have a son in college) and a sick husband at home, so I am always looking for quick, easy and healthy recipes.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake, but have cut way back. I like to BBQ, but am a little intimadated. I really want to start experimenting out of my comfort zone, with unfamiliar fruits and vegetables.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Christmas, my Mom, sister and I get together and make Christmas cookies that have been made every Christmas since my Grandmother's time, and then we each bring a new recipe to try to see if it is worthy to be added to the "Traditional List". I like to sew, so I made everyone a Christmas apron, and we all bring our aprons and wear them while we work. We play Christmas music, and reminisce about my Grandmother who has passed away.
My cooking triumphs
Still working on this......
My cooking tragedies
When I was about 8, I wanted to make an cake for my parents' anniversary. I made one of those Snackin Cakes in a box. The recipe called for a small amt of vinegar, and I added way more than I should have. My Aunt, who was helping me warned my parents what had happened, and my Mom told my Dad that they would eat and not say a word to hurt my feelings, but when the cake was cut into, the fumes almost knocked you out!

Slow Cooker Creamy Potato Soup
Working 12 hours shifts, I am always on the lookout for easy and tasty slow-cooker recipes. This was fabulous. My husband loved it too. I followed the recipe exactly, except that I used fat free half/half, and left out dill and cooked on low for 10 hours. Didn't have white pepper, used black. Will definitely make again.

Slow Cooker Chops
I was moved to write this review because my husband who is very picky, loved this recipe. It was very easy and hearty. I did make a few changes based on previous reviewers' recommendations. I used 2 cans of cream of mush soup, 6 potatoes, onion and garlic powder. I diced my potatoes and put 1/3 in the bottom of slow cooker, then sprinkled with salt and pepper. Covered with 1 can soup/water mixture. Then placed my previously pan browned chops (1/2 of them) and covered with another 1/3 of potatoes, then remainder of chops, and remainder of potatoes and lastly covered with soup/water mixture. I seasoned each layer of potatoes with salt and pepper and the chops were seasoned with salt, onion & garlic powder. I then cooked on low for 8 hours. Very tasty. My husband couldn't wait to eat the leftovers the next day! Thanks for a great recipe. This is my first review, and I hope it is helpful!
