Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2011
These soft-textured cookies have a wonderful 'autumn spice' taste that only gets better the next day. If you've followed the recipe *to the letter*, you will have a light & airy, almost foam-like dough that is very sticky. As recommended by another reviewer, I let the dough sit for about 1/2 hour and it was much easier to work with. Also, contrary to what another reviewer posted, I did not have to 'really flatten the cookie'. I just gently touched each dough ball to take the arc off the top. They baked up beautifully and looked so perfect you'd think they were made in a commercial bakery! This is definitely a keeper.

Chewy Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2011
I was looking for a recipe that was similar to a mix I used in a bakery I once worked at. It produced chewy, dense cookies that were full of flavour. This was it! I never would have thought to omit egg and use just soda for leavening. Slightly crispy on the outside, chewy inside. I stored them in a sealed container and they were still chewy 2 days later. The amount of oats seems too much at first but it is perfect. I added 1C raisins the second time I made this and it was wonderful. Thank you so much!

Mexican Pork Chops

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2011
Good recipe but it definitively needs spices. I added 1/2 tsp each of chili powder, garlic, cumin and coriander I also sauteed 1 medium sliced onion with the chops. Will definitely make again.

Unbaked Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2011
I've been making a version of these since I was a child (with the help of mom of course!) Lately though, I've found them too dry; despite reducing the boiling time. I tried this recipe and I must say, I am impressed! The addition of the peanut butter is just what these cookies needed! It's a subtle flavour and not too overpowering. I followed the recipe exactly (boiling for 1.5 min and using coconut as 1 optional ingredient) and these turned out beautifully. THANK YOU!

Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2010
Initially, I was skeptical about cake mix in a yeast dough, but decided to try this recipe based on the reviews. I'm glad I did! The dough is very soft, easy to work with (you could even skip the rolling pin and pat it out) and produced a light-as-air cinnamon bun. I think I may use this recipe for other sweet rolls. Like other reviewers, I doubled the cinnamon as I prefer a stronger cinnamon flavour and added a 1/2tsp nutmeg. Other than that, I followed this recipe and they came out beautifully.

Jenn's Out Of This World Spaghetti and Meatballs

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2010
I was looking for a recipe that would increase the tenderness and flavour of my meatballs. This isn't it. I followed it to the letter (absolutely no substitutions/changes) and 4 of the balls fell apart (I suppose they *are* more tender in that respect). They aren't any more flavourful at all and the sauce is quite watery and bland despite being oily from the meat. I am very disappointed.

Aunt Betty's French Dressing

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2008
I had run out of French dressing one night and searched for an acceptable substitute. I was leery of this recipe because of the ketchup base (the dressing should be orange, not red) but it turned out virtually identical in colour and taste to the bottled brand I buy. I used white vinegar as that's what I had on hand. I will use this from now on, thank you!

Highway Cafe Chess Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2007
This pie is divine! If you like rich desserts, this is one to try. I omitted the walnuts as my boyfriend doesn't like them (I will make one with nuts for this Christmas though lol) and it was still great.

Easy Coconut Macaroons

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2005
I tried the 1st batch as directed-and I ended up with cookies that had spread over the whole pan. The 2nd batch, I omitted the cornstarch, replaced 1/4 c of sugar with icing sugar (confectioners) and added 2tbsp of flour. Beautiful!

Baked Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2003
Fantastic! The whole family loved this. The second time around I didn't have cream cheese so I substituted 1/2 c old cheddar and 5 processed cheese slices-another hit! Thanks for this recipe.
