Pot Stickers Traditional

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2012
tastes exactly like my Grandma Kwong's! For people whom don't realize how to cook them, it is true that you first put them in a touch of oil to brown the bottoms (meaning the fan is at the top and a flat side must be formed for the bottom), and then add a little bit of water for steaming. For those that state that this isn't right, believe me it is...I am Chinese and was raised in a chinese home. This is the traditional way on how to cook them. As well, to keep the dough together and be able to do the fan folding seam, DO NOT USE EGG! Use water, egg gives them a nasty taste!

Turtle Cheesecake

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2011
Great recipe! Made for my pregnant sister in law and she went nutty over it...either it was the craving or it was really good. I used caramel sauce so didn't need the evap milk obviously as then you don't need to make the caramel sauce. Worked great. Acutally it was Dulce Delecce sauce. Supurb! drizzled with a bit of the sauce, mileted milk chocolate and pecans

Dill Pickles

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2010
these are great and the exact same recipe my mother in law uses, but with differences: we use table salt instead of pickling salt we never process them because the pickles go soft and mushy the cukes are soaked over night and then scrubbed before being put into the jars with a small jalapeno pepper and small garden pepper for colour and really a fight for the kids when they are opened:-) they always seal up because after you close the jar flip it upside down and it ensures it will seal, but only if it is at a rolling boil for at least 3 minutes! happy canning!

Canned Apple Pie Filling

perfect and easy. did the spice variations like other reviewers suggested and was great. apples are crisp however, so that you don't end up with a crappy pie that has a mushy apple filling! YUCKY!!!!

Avocado, Tomato and Mango Salsa

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2010
This is a very good salsa! We made it to try and used it with our Basa fillets. I do think it needs something else though...perhaps some orange zest or lemon zest or pieces or maybe some pineapple...just to give it a little bit of a sweeter note!

Gourmet Caramel Apples

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2009
I am giving 5 stars because I did this differently! I found caramel apple wraps in the store and used those but used the other steps to make the apples...chocolate and than sprinkles as they were for a pre-k class...they looked so good it was hard not to try one!

Hong Kong Style Egg Tarts

here are some changes that I did: instead of 9 eggs, I did 6 Large eggs and 3 egg yolks as for the crust, I used my Grandma Kwongs recipes: 1.2C Four 1/2C margarine 1/2tsp salt 1 egg yolk mis first three ingrediants till mealy then add yolk and combine till forms soft dough...press into tart molds

Peach Raspberry Cobbler

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2009
this recipe was ok, but next time I'm going to put the fruit on the bottom and then the cake on top...when I put the fruit in gollops on top, it just went directly to the centre...and we like an even amount of fruit tasts...but will try again, so rating may change!

Buttery Rolls

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2009
These were awesome! I used 3 cups whole wheat and 1 cup all-purpose flour which were all sifted together...however, these do need to be baked longer....I also only had frozen butter, so I threw it into a bowl with the milk and threw it in the microwave for a couple of minutes, so most of it was melted. ***Just an update*** I times the recipe by 8 and got 5 dz buns and 5 loaves out of the whole batch again using whole wheat and all-purpose flour...worked like a charm:-)

Costas French Market Doughnuts (Beignets)

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2009
Never had these before and curiosity got the best of me! I halved the recipe, as several reviews stated that this made a huge batch! These are awesome, although I was expecting a little more sweetness in the dough. Didn't have Evaporated milk, so used Whole milk instead...these are awesome...so awesome that I am going to make these for the family potatoe pancake breakfast...I was trying to figure out what to make and low and behold I have found it!

These were simple and easy and went very well with my son's classroom theme which was frogs! I made about 80 in total and 20 of them were in ice cream cones. They were a huge hit for all the kids in their classes!

Ooey-Gooey Cinnamon Buns

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2008
this are definetly much better than the cinnabon recipe...they were light and fluffy and gooey all in one. I substituted raisens for the pecans due to a nut allergy at the school. I would suggest cutting the margarine down for the caramel a touch as one pan came out pretty greasy...but definetly still edible! Also a tip ***if your yeast hasn't responded and grown in the water within about 5 minutes...throw it out as then it's no more good! Keeping the yeast in the freezer keeps it fresh...bakery secret!

Chocolate-Covered Cherry Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2007
They hubby loved these! I kinda figured he would as he loved chocolate covered cherries. I figured this recipe is a great conversion of his favorite chocolate cookie style! I didn't like the dough however, as I found it not moist enough to work with, so I just added water just until it was more plyable. A definet keeper.

Pork Roast With The World's Best Pork Loin Rub

This was the best homemade rub we have ever had. One hint though: We made gravy from the drippings...big mistake...WOW what a kick to it! Other than that, I can't wait to try it on chicken breast before it hits the BBQ.
