Sturdy Whipped Cream Frosting

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2009
This was fantastic! It was the perfect combination of creamy and sweet (not too sweet!), and it lived up to its name - I used it to frost some banana bars that I took to work, and it held up all day without refrigeration! Very easy to make, too - pretty much foolproof!

Frosted Banana Bars

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2009
Wow, these were really really good! I decided to try this to use up some bananas (I didn't feel like making banana bread), and it was fantastic! It made a huge pan, so I took them to work and they pretty much were gone by the end of the day - everyone loved them! The recipe called for using canned cream cheese frosting, but I couldn't bring myself to do it! Instead I frosted them with an outstanding cream cheese frosting recipe from this site (Sturdy Whipped Cream Frosting) - yummy!

Maple Apple Crisp

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2009
You don't get much better (or easier) than this! I realized about halfway through the process that I didn't have any oats, so I substituted 2 single-serving packages of instant oatmeal (Maple & Brown Sugar flavor). I only used about 1/4 cup of brown sugar since the instant oatmeal was already sweetened. I also cut back the butter to 1/4 cup as other reviewers suggested. I drizzled a little extra syrup on top before putting it into the oven. Awesome!!!

Fresh Cherry Cobbler

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2009
WOW! All I can say is this was awesome! A friend of mine gave me some sour cherries from her tree, so I went looking for a recipe to use them up. I'm so glad I found this one! I followed the advice of other reviewers and doubled the amount of cherries (but left other quantities the same). I also added some cinnamon and nutmeg to the batter (forgot to add the vanilla as another reviewer suggested, but turned out great without it!). It was the perfect combination of tart and sweet! I've already made it twice, and I'm sure I'll be making it again! Thanks for the fantastic recipe! :-)

Chicken a la Good

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2009
Really good - and easy! Also, makes a very nice presentation. The only thing was that it came out a bit dry on top - maybe I should have made a sauce (ala Cordon Bleu) - that might have helped. Still, I will definitely make this again!

Seafood Chowder

Out of this world! For once, I didn't add anything extra (but I did omit the scallops and calamari). Served this for guests, and everyone raved about it! Will definitely make this many more times!

Lemon Barbeque Meatloaf

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2009
This was awesome! I did as another reviewer suggested and made mini-meatloaves in a muffin tin. It worked out great because I was short on time and they cooked a lot faster that way (about 30 minutes)! I did not serve with the lemons on top, but the bbq sauce was really good!

Chicken Pot Pie I

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2009
Can't get much better - or easier - than this! I used cut up rotisserie chicken to make it even easier (if that's possible!), and added a few extra seasonings (poultry seasoning, Lowry's seasoned salt) to the mixture. My family loved it - will definitely make this again!

Easy Platz (Coffee Cake)

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2009
I was looking for recipe to make to use up some raspberries I had in the fridge, and I'm glad I came across this one! Yum! My raspberries were huge, so I cut them in half and tossed them in sugar before adding to the top of the batter. I also did as other reviewers suggested and used a 9x13 pan and baked for 45 minutes - came out perfect! Will definitely make this again!

Chicken and Bowtie Pasta with Asiago Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2008
Wonderful! I made a double batch for a big family gathering, so I used one container heavy cream and one of half and half just to lighten it up a little. I sprinkled dried tomato flakes in it as well to give it a little more color.

Cake Balls

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2008
These were great! I made two different kinds - strawberry (strawberry cake mix and strawberry frosting, coated with semi-sweet chocolate chips and sprinkled with red decorating sugar) and German Chocolate (German Chocolate cake with caramel coconut pecan frosting, coated with milk chocolate chips and drizzled melted caramel). They were the hit of the party!

Asiago Dip with Crostini

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2008
Everybody loved this dip - it's so easy to make and tasty, too! The only thing I changed was I substituted sun-dried tomato pesto for the sun-dried tomato sprinkles (couldn't find them in any grocery store). Turned out great anyway! I served it with pre-packaged crostini toasts. I will definitely make this again!

French Breakfast Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2008
These were very good (and easy)! I filled each muffin cup about 2/3 full and then added a dollop of homemade strawberry jam, then topped with the remaining batter. Yummy! One comment - you don't need 1/3 cup melted butter for dipping the muffin tops after they're baked - you could easily get by with 2-3 Tbsp or so.

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2008
This was very, very good! I took another reviewer's recommendation and added some red wine in place of some of the water. I also used one can of cream of mushroom soup and one can of golden mushroom soup, and added a can of mushrooms as well. Yummy!

Who knew something so good could be so easy! I used a mixture of blueberries and blackberries, but I'm guessing just about any fruit would work. It turned out great - my whole family loves it!

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

OMG! This was so incredibly good! I did use pork tenderloins as the recipe stated and topped with Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce. My kids thought they had died and gone to heaven - it was sublime!

Yummy Honey Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2008
If I could give this more than 5 stars, I would! My whole family loved it! I did as others suggested and made more sauce, marinated & skewered the veggies and chicken separately. Also, I used Yoshida's sauce in place of the soy sauce. I served it with Thai Kitchen Lemongrass & Ginger rice - it was absolutely to die for!

Slow Cooker Lemon Garlic Chicken II

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2008
This smelled fantastic while it was cooking, and was fall-apart tender when served. Contrary to what other reviewers have said, it is very important to brown the chicken before putting it in the crock pot - this seals in the juices so the meat stays moist and tender. I do have to say, though, that flavor-wise it seemed like something was missing, although I can't really put my finger on it. Maybe some onion (or a tsp or two of onion soup mix)? I served it with rice and steamed veggies. It really was good, but just seemed to need a little something to complete the flavor. I will definitely make it again, but play around with the recipe to see if I can figure out what's missing.

Rich Chocolate Frosting

Very tasty - reminds me of the frosting my mom used to make when we were kids! I like keeping the frosted cake in the fridge - the frosting stays more firm that way!
