Chicken Pot Pie IX

This is to die for! Very yummy. I (like so many others) added chx. broth in with the vegies , poultry seasoning and onion pwdr. I omitted the celery salt. I also like it creamy, so I added a can of cream of chx soup. Also, we don't like alot of crust, so I only put on the top crust. Perfection!

Cocktail Meatballs

this recipe was a bit bland to me. I doctored it up and it came out prety good. I used soy sauce, honey, worceshire and add a little liquid smoke (which took a bit of the sweetness out) I also added garlic powder and a little paprika. I had to keep playing with the recipe until it was just right. But I got requests on the recipe in the end!

Nutty Apple Crisp

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2009
In the south we like our desserts "sweet". I used granny smith apples and the next time I make this I will add 1/2 cup of sugar in with the lemon/water mixture. It was a bit tart w/out the sugar. Good if that's the kind of crisp you're looking for.

Chili-Lime Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2009
I didn't care for this at all. All I got was heat and lime. I worked with the taste (added white sugar, a little soy, a little dijon mustard) and it rounded out the flavors a bit more. Sorry, I really wanted to like this recipe:(

Chocolate Mousse

I thought for a fast mousse, this was very good. The amount was perfect to fit into small bite-size phyllo cups. I topped them with a dusting of powdered sugar and a raspberry. Looked and tasted perfect!

Triple Berry Crisp

The frozen fruit got a bit juicy (after it thawed out) so I added 1 TBSP of cornstarch to thicken it up. Also added 1 tbsp. of fresh lemon juice to brighten up the fruit flavor. Delicious!

Chinese Broccoli Slaw

okay I always have to tweek a recipe a bit b/c that's just how I am.. She said to reserve the seasoning pkt. but nowhere did it say to add it in??? I didn't want it to go to waste, so in the dressing (which was VERY bland) how could it not be with only acv/sugar/oil/soy being its only ingredients?? I added the packet. WOW! It totally kicked this recipe up a notch. Also added one more tbsp of soy and s&p. Other than that, this is very good.

Chicken Spaghetti II

This was so fast and easy. The only thing I changed was sauting fresh onion and garlic (instead of garlic pwdr). Oh! And b/c another reviewer said it was a little dry I reserved a 1/4 cup of the broth and added it in which helps a lot!!! This is a keeper!

Easy Pizza Sauce I

Waaaay too runny!!! Wish I had read the reviews. Cut back on the water or maybe eliminate it altogether?? Next time I might even consider using 2 cans of tomato paste or adding a little cornstarch to the mixture to thicken it up a bit.

4 stars b/c I had to tweek this recipe a bit b/c I thought it tasted bland. I added 1/4 c green onion, 1/4 c. brown sugar, dijon mustard, 1/4 c.bourbon, garlic powder, black pepper. I also rubbed my steak with cracked pepper, a few red pepper flakes, a bit of cumin and paprika. Put it in the crock pot and let it cook all day. Boy was it good!!! Sooo tender and juicy. We used it for our fajitas.

Broccoli Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2008
This recipe was delicious. I took it to a Holiday Dinner Party (I was in charge the vegetable) and received rave reviews. I sauted the onion and celery with two cloves of garlic (since other reviewers said this recipe tasted a little bland). Added S&P then followed the recipe completely and this dish turned out perfectly. It makes a huge amount but there were no leftovers. I didn't think it was time consuming at all. Just take your time and keep stirring the cheese (I used velveeta) until it melts. You will be pleased.

Simple Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
this was a great start on a basic recipe. I made some changes to add a bit more flavor. First I browned my cubed sirloin. Next I sauteed onion and garlic then added mushrooms. I deglazed the pan with a little red wine. I added beef broth and cream of mushroom soup. This really kicked up this recipe to make it 5 starts instead of 4.

Thai Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2007
This recipe was okay. I probably would not make it again. 8 cloves of garlic was waaaay too much. I would cut back to 4. I also added bell pepper and carrots to the onion and omitted the peanut butter (just cuz we're not fans). Also reduced the soy to 1/3 cup. Good start of a recipe, just didn't knock my socks off. Served veggies and chicken over jasmine rice.

Cherry Dessert

Reviewed: May 26, 2005
very good recipe. To save on time, I used 1 carton of nondairy whipped topping for the heavy cream and folded that into the cream cheese. I cut back on the sugar (since the whipped topping is sweet, and I used 1/2 cup of margarine. Excellent!
