About this Cook
I have been baking since my first Home-Ec class in 7th grade and started cooking when I moved out of my mom's place. People seem to enjoy my cooking and love my desserts. I always attempt new recipes but I do have some favourites that I regularly make.
My favorite things to cook
I'm first and foremost a baker. I love making desserts (cookies, cakes and crumbles) and I usually bring them to work or at dinner parties so I don't eat it all. I enjoy cooking and my favourite recipes usually include cheese.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favourite family cooking traditions are at Christmas. I do lots of baking at this time of year and I LOVE it. There are lots of family parties with lots of food. Sure you gain a few pounds but it's all soooo good.
My cooking triumphs
I believe that any cooking triumphs should include "a mistake made in the recipe but it turned out great". I have messed up recipes and/or gave them my little additions and they almost always turned out pretty good. Substitutions are easier for cooking than baking and that's why I'm starting to appreciate cooking more and more.
My cooking tragedies
There has been a few cooking tragedies but the one that comes to mind is the first time I used a pressure cooker. I had no idea how to use this thing. In short, when the water was ready and I tried taking off the top, it flew off and up in the air. The boiling water burnt my arm and neck a little. Although slightly scary when it happened, it could have been worst. Regardless, that was my first and last time using a pressure cooker.

Dark Chocolate Cake I
I’ve been looking for a chocolate cake recipe for a long time and now I have found it. It’s fantastic and when paired with the “Heavenly Chocolate Mousse” from this site as a filling it is, well, HEAVEN! In addition to the chocolate mousse for a filling, I covered the cake with whipped cream, toped with chocolate curls and covered the base of the cake with strawberries. DELICIOUS!

Heavenly Chocolate Mousse
I absolutely loved this recipe and so did my family. I used it as a filling for a chocolate cake (Dark Chocolate Cake I … also from this site) and it was WONDERFUL. Obviously there was some left over but I ate it all within a couple of days. I followed the instructions from another reviewer (Reviewed on Sep. 20, 2008 by Christine) which was very helpful and I also added dark chocolate pieces to the mousse which was delicious.

Sweet and Sour Chicken I
Excellent recipe. I followed a few suggestions from other reviewers and added 1/2tsp salt and 1 1/2tsp baking powder to the flower instead of using self-rising flower. I also added garlic powder to the chicken batter. I made this for a potluck and everyone enjoyed it. It can take a bit of time to make because the recipe is for a huge serving size but it's pretty simple to follow. I will be making this again and again.
