Playgroup Granola Bars

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2009
These are great! I didn't have wheat germ so left it out. Next time I'll use that and maybe some dried cranberries. I added chocolate chips and sultanas. Didn't care for the chocolate in these. I'll cut down on brown sugar as I thought they were pretty sweet. Overall perfect and my son loved them!

Chinese Chicken Fried Rice II

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2009
It turned out to be really good and my husband and the little boy that stays with us ate it up. I used soy sauce and Thai Sweet Chili Sauce. My 3 year old hardly touched it, but will make it again.

Fresh Vegetable Stir-Fry with Peppery Orange Beef

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2009
This was confusing so just ended up dumping it all in the wok. It worked fine. No need to have extra pans. I ran out of sesame oil so I just heated some oil and threw in a handful of sesame seeds. Didn't have teriyaki so just used soy. I liked it...it was a little too sweet, but overall it turned out pretty good.

Easy Apple Cinnamon Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2009
These were delicious! I used a little more milk. These were moist and had a wonderful apple cinnamon flavor. Didn't do the struesal topping because we ran out of time so we just left them plain, but I can just imagine how much better they would have been had I used it. This will be a keeper in my recipe box.

Grandma's Corn Bread Dressing

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2009
Call me the odd one out, but I did the recipe as is and I loved it. I've never made cornbread dressing and never grew up on it so I have nothing to compare it to, really. Not to dry...not to wet. I did add more sage because I love alot of sage in my stuffing. I made this with baked chicken breasts, gravy, and vegetables. A keeper!

Lemon Cream Pasta with Chicken

Reviewed: May 30, 2009
I liked it. I added shredded parmesan on top when it was served. It was a little too lemony, but I was pleased with how the flavors blended. Will keep it in my recipe box. My 3 year old ate all of it so because of that it's a keeper.

Quick and Easy Chicken Noodle Soup

This is delicious. Didn't change a thing except I added some garlic powder and some onion powder...no salt as I thought it was salty enough.

Maple Bacon Pancake

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2009
I made this a savory dish using onions, bacon and cheese. No syrup and no sugar. This was for dinner and my husband, being Australian, doesn't understand the whole breakfast for dinner type thing or sugar with bacon..lol...so I made it without any sweetness. I didn't have baking mix so I used the recipe from a user the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. It was fine, but not as moist as I would have wanted it. I served it with sour cream, fried potatos and green beans. I actually enjoyed it and it's so good with sour cream. Will try it for breakfast one morning and see how it turns out with syrup and sugar.

Baked French Toast

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2009
I thought this was delicious. I loved the sweetness of it. I was a little confused on how much milk and cream to use since I didn't have half and half here. So I used half milk and half cream and then a little more milk. I used the 8 eggs, but I think I might use less next time. It was very eggy underneath, but it blended well. I made it for a women's breakfast and everyone liked it. They said it tasted like bread and butter pudding and I have to agree so here in Australia it could pass for breakfast, brunch, or dessert. :-) I'd never made this before so it was a nice change.

Ricotta Fettuccine Alfredo with Broccoli

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2009
I didn't mind this. I didn't have broccoli so I used frozen spinach. I also put in musrooms and chicken. I cooked the pasta...while that was cooking I made the sauce...I steamed the spinach and then fried up the mushrooms and chicken. When the mushrooms and chicken were done and put the sauce back in to heat it up some more then I poured it over the pasta. It wasn't fat free as I used whole milk and full cream butter...but it turned out really nice. Oh and I added powdered garlic to the sauce as well as parsley and salt and pepper.

Creamy Mashed Potatoes II

These turned out so smooth and creamy. I added 1 cup of pureed cauliflower to about 4 medium sized potatos. Very very good with steaks or chicken.

Quick and Easy Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2009
This extremely rich. I used the full amount of butter, but only 1 cup of flour. Next time I'll use 1/2 cup of butter because it made it almost sickening with the amount of butter that was in it. They are definitely the way a brownie should be, but very very rich. Don't need icing at all with this recipe. Very chocolaty..very moist...and very rich!

Banana Banana Bread

I accidentally used baking powder instead of baking soda and it still came out moist and had a nice flavor, but I could tell something just wasn't right. I kept tasting it saying,"Something is missing." Well...now I know. That is why I need a computer in the kitchen. Sometimes writing it down on a piece of paper leads to mistakes.

This is the best French dressing ever! French dressing in Australia is greenish and I hate it. This is so good. I will never have to worry about not getting french dressing anymore. Yay!

Special Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: May 3, 2008
I liked the consistency for this frosting, however, I did not like the after taste the cream had. After sitting for a while the flavors of the sugar, vanilla, and cream blended so it was good. I don't think I'll use cream again...I'll use whole milk instead.

Rick's Special Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2008
Very nice. I was a little put off by the cream aftertaste that I had in my mouth when I first made it, but I put it into the fridge overnight and the next day all the flavors blended together. I used 1 cup crisco and 1 cup butter...then 6 cups of icing sugar. It was a little sweet, but I just added a pinch of salt to it while mixing and it balanced it out. Very nice and firm enough for piping. This was very good.

Veggie Brown Rice Wraps

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2008
I ate it, my husband ate it, and my 2 year old son ate it! So it's a keeper. I didn't use frozen corn, just canned. I had trouble getting the brown rice done, but once I did and mixed it with the rest it really turned out to be a great meal. We added cilantro, sour cream, and salsa along with some fresh tomatos from our neighbors garden. YUM!!! Hubby looks forward to taking good meals to work and this is one of them.
