Taco Seasoning Mix

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2010
I didn't make enough to store in the pantry. I just did a tryout recipe using each spice a little at a time. I took 1 1/2lbs beef roast and put it into the slowcooker. I used 2 TBSP minced onion, 1/2 tsp chili powder, 1/2 tsp salt, 3 tsp cumin(I like cumin),2 tsp cornstarch, 2 tsp garlic, pinch of red pepper flakes, 1 tsp of oregano. I cooked the roast for several hours on high and then shredded it. Put it into a pan along with the broth and simmered it on the stove. The meat was so tender. It was perfect for tacos. This is a keeper!!!

Vinaigrette

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2010
I did not care for this recipe. I wish I could find a nice vinaigrette or homemade salad dressing, but they always seem to have such a strong vinegar taste. I hate vinegar...but love vinaigrettes when I go out to dinner. Maybe I'm just not letting it sit in the fridge long enough for flavors to set.

Serbian Ground Beef, Veggie, and Potato Bake

The taste just wasn't very appealing. It needed lots of potatos. My husband didn't like the taste and said not to make it much if I decided to make it again.

Zucchini Bread IV

Reviewed: May 9, 2010
This is such a wonderful recipe. The first time I made it I didn't change a thing, but now that I'm trying to be healthier and watching my diet I decided to make some changes. Instead of 2 cups of sugar I used 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup shredded carrot, 1 medium banana mashed, and for the 1c. oil I used 1c. of applesauce. It bakes beautifully and is so moist. It's wonderful the orginal way and it's wonderful with the lighter version. Just the best recipe!!!!!

A Plus Fair Corn Dogs

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2010
These were very greasy. I was impressed with the batter and how thick it was and stayed on the hot dog, but then when I put it into the oil it just came apart. The texture of the corn dog wasn't like what I remember. I love corn dogs, but this was not it.

Slow-Cooked Chili

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2010
This is good. I give it 5 starts for easiness. I added cumin and since I didn't have tomato sauce I used tomato paste thinned with water. I used a can of mexican beans, only 1 tsp of chili powder and brown sugar. Very nice.

Grandpa's Classic Coney Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2010
This recipe is better than most I've tried, but I still don't think it's it. I might give it one more try since I let it simmer on the stove rather than all day in the crockpot. Almost, but not quite.

Playgroup Granola Bars

These are great! I didn't have wheat germ so left it out. Next time I'll use that and maybe some dried cranberries. I added chocolate chips and sultanas. Didn't care for the chocolate in these. I'll cut down on brown sugar as I thought they were pretty sweet. Overall perfect and my son loved them!

It turned out to be really good and my husband and the little boy that stays with us ate it up. I used soy sauce and Thai Sweet Chili Sauce. My 3 year old hardly touched it, but will make it again.

Fresh Vegetable Stir-Fry with Peppery Orange Beef

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2009
This was confusing so just ended up dumping it all in the wok. It worked fine. No need to have extra pans. I ran out of sesame oil so I just heated some oil and threw in a handful of sesame seeds. Didn't have teriyaki so just used soy. I liked it...it was a little too sweet, but overall it turned out pretty good.

Easy Apple Cinnamon Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2009
These were delicious! I used a little more milk. These were moist and had a wonderful apple cinnamon flavor. Didn't do the struesal topping because we ran out of time so we just left them plain, but I can just imagine how much better they would have been had I used it. This will be a keeper in my recipe box.

Grandma's Corn Bread Dressing

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2009
Call me the odd one out, but I did the recipe as is and I loved it. I've never made cornbread dressing and never grew up on it so I have nothing to compare it to, really. Not to dry...not to wet. I did add more sage because I love alot of sage in my stuffing. I made this with baked chicken breasts, gravy, and vegetables. A keeper!

Lemon Cream Pasta with Chicken

I liked it. I added shredded parmesan on top when it was served. It was a little too lemony, but I was pleased with how the flavors blended. Will keep it in my recipe box. My 3 year old ate all of it so because of that it's a keeper.

Maple Bacon Pancake

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2009
I made this a savory dish using onions, bacon and cheese. No syrup and no sugar. This was for dinner and my husband, being Australian, doesn't understand the whole breakfast for dinner type thing or sugar with bacon..lol...so I made it without any sweetness. I didn't have baking mix so I used the recipe from a user the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. It was fine, but not as moist as I would have wanted it. I served it with sour cream, fried potatos and green beans. I actually enjoyed it and it's so good with sour cream. Will try it for breakfast one morning and see how it turns out with syrup and sugar.
