About this Cook
I am originally from the States and I moved to Australia 5 years ago. In the time I've lived here I've had to really learn to cook the foods that I miss from home for example biscuits and gravy. There are many things that I miss and have found on this site such as fair corn dogs, homemade sausage, mexican type foods etc. Eating out is not as big as in the States so I find myself cooking way more than when I was at home. I thouroughly enjoy cooking up the things that I miss and trying new recipes.
My favorite things to cook
Cakes, cookies, pies, mexican dishes, pastas, comfort foods such as fried chicken or biscuits and gravy.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving because my mom's dinner was always fabulous. Sunday dinners at my grandmother's house because my grandmother's cooking was fabulous, especially her pies. Always baking at holidays or for special occasions.
My cooking triumphs
Cooking my first Thanksgiving dinner! The turkey was to die for and everyone loved it. It made me feel so good!
My cooking tragedies
Serving shrimp cashew stir-fry and not cleaning the shrimp before cooking. It tasted like salty sea water and had a very very fishy smell to it.

Playgroup Granola Bars
These are great! I didn't have wheat germ so left it out. Next time I'll use that and maybe some dried cranberries. I added chocolate chips and sultanas. Didn't care for the chocolate in these. I'll cut down on brown sugar as I thought they were pretty sweet. Overall perfect and my son loved them!

Chinese Chicken Fried Rice II
It turned out to be really good and my husband and the little boy that stays with us ate it up. I used soy sauce and Thai Sweet Chili Sauce. My 3 year old hardly touched it, but will make it again.

Fresh Vegetable Stir-Fry with Peppery Orange Beef
This was confusing so just ended up dumping it all in the wok. It worked fine. No need to have extra pans. I ran out of sesame oil so I just heated some oil and threw in a handful of sesame seeds. Didn't have teriyaki so just used soy. I liked it...it was a little too sweet, but overall it turned out pretty good.
