About this Cook
I love to cook, bake, and create new dishes for my family to enjoy. I feel great when I think of a new recipe, then create it, and watch everyone enjoy it (including myself).
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook almost anything. Even though I don't eat red meat, I still create new thinks to do with it. The people who do eat it then give me their opinions on the recipes. I also enjoy cooking italian, mexican, and chinese dishes. Desserts too!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother makes these polish cream cheese cookies right before Christmas time every year. They are really yummy. She also makes great stuffed cabbage, as well as hungarian goolash. My brother has a couple of great recipes that my family also enjoys. They are garlic string beans and garlic marinated portabello mushroom. He also has a wonderful creamy tomato vodka sauce for pasta. (He went to chef school, and has many, many others...these are just a couple).
My cooking triumphs
I think that I have wonderful eggplant parmasian. I also make a very tasty fried apple dessert. It's a great recipe for the fall time.
My cooking tragedies
I hate to admit it, but when I was younger (about 15 years old), I nearly burned down my kitchen. I was preparing to make french fries on the stove(frozen), and just as I started melting the grease in the pot, my phone rang. I ran into the living room and ended up being on the phone for about 10 minutes. When I went back into the kitchen, there was a huge fire on the stove. It was a very embarrassing experience.

Carmel Apple Martini
I have never had one of these before; I've heard so much about them. Very tasty, but I will have to tweak the recipe some; it was kinda strong for me! I will definatly cut down on the vodka! :o)

Royal Icing I
This icing was great on my gingerbread cookies for Christmas...it dried quickly. The only thing I would do is add another 1/2 to 3/4 cup confectioners' sugar after beating the mixture at high speed. After making my first batch of icing, I saw that the it was a little runny; by adding the extra confectioners' sugar, it stiffens it up some. It had a nice light lemony taste to it to, which went great with the gingerbread cookies I made this past year. Also, if you are adding food coloring to the icing, I would add a little more confectioners' sugar after doing that as well...thanks, and I will keep in my recipe box to make in the future! :)

Classic Tiramisu
The whole recipe (for ingrediants) was PERFECT!! I made it for my brother a few weeks ago for his birthday (because he never tried classic tiramisu before), and he loved it. He liked it a lot, and told me that he thought it wasn't too sweet. I was a little nervous about the egg mixture at first (I thought that the recipe called for raw eggs in the cream part when whipping, but when I read the recipe through, I saw that they are cooked with the sugar for 10 minutes). Definately let the egg/sugar mixture cook through before whipping; also make sure to use the double boiler (you can use a medium sized metal or glass bowl on top of a medium sized pot of water if you don't have a double boiler). Also, instead of refigerating the cake when completed, I put it in the freezer overnight, because the cream wasn't firm...other than that, the recipe is great! Thanks Carol, and I will keep the recipe in my recipe box! :)
