Orange Baked Acorn Squash

The taste of orange was too overpowering in this dish. The squash was cooked perfectly, but it's flavor was completely overwhelmed by the orange juice. I will not be making this again.

Absolutely amazing! I have made this several times. It always turns out perfect. I normally make it to fill my chocolate eclairs. I always need to make way more than I need since a lot of it seems to disappear before I can get them filled.

Egg Drop Soup (Better than Restaurant Quality!)

Salisbury Steak

I just used the gravy from this recipe to go with my meatballs. It was very good. I made it the night before I needed it and reheated it the next day in the slow cooker. I was worried when I first made it though because the mustard powder smelled like it was over powering the dish, but when I reheated it the next day it was perfect. I will use this recipe again. I may even try the whole thing next time.

Savory Crab Stuffed Mushrooms

The mushrooms were delicious. We used imitation crab meat and tomato garlic Monterey Jack cheese. We omitted the lemon juice. Also, we had closer to thirty small to medium sized mushrooms and there was plenty of stuffing. We put the extra in a ramekin, topped it with more cheese and baked it. We will definitely make these again.

Streusel Topped Blueberry Muffins

Very disappointing. I've had better store bought muffins. They were heavy and bland. The streusel top was pretty good, but that and the only other real flavor came from the blueberries. I will not make these again.

Spectacular Marsala Glazed Carrots with Hazelnuts

This is one of the best carrot recipes I have ever tried. I took these to dinner at my in-laws' house. My father-in-law hates carrots, but he loved the hazelnuts. My mother-in-law hates nuts, but she loved the carrots. Every one else ate them together and loved them. The hazelnuts took longer to roast than the recipe indicated, but I started them early enough that it wasn't a problem. I will definitely make these again.

Balsamic Glazed Carrots

These carrots weren't very good. I generally love balsamic vinegar but they just didn't have the flavor I was looking for. I made them for Easter dinner yesterday. Every one took a small serving to start and no one went back for seconds. I will not be trying this recipe again.

Creamy Broccoli Casserole

This is a very good recipe. I made it to take to Easter dinner yesterday and it went over very well. I used fresh, steamed broccoli and added a good amount of garlic powder, which went very well with the cream cheese sauce. I added a few more spices from my cupboard, but I don’t remember which ones. I will definitely try this recipe again.

Raised Griddle Cakes

These did take a little time to prepare, but since most of the work is done the night before it takes very little time to get them going in the morning. I had the batter ready and had to wait for the griddle to finish heating. The batter did come out a little thin. I cooked them that way and they turned out fine, if just a little flat. Next time I will start with more cornmeal, probably a quarter cup or more extra. The cooking time seemed to need to be a little longer than regular pancakes. The first two I made turned out a little doughy. I started leaving them on the griddle for a few extra minutes after they looked done and the rest all came out perfect. The taste was very good, but I was hoping it would taste a little more like corn bread. The corn flavor was definitely there, but was a little more subtle than I would have liked. This is something that the extra cornmeal will hopefully also help with.

Apricot/Cranberry Chutney

I followed the recipe exactly and thought it was a little too sour, but my wife loved it. I will definately try it again. (She'll make me!) Next time I'll cut down on the vinegar a little.

Portobello Mushroom Burgers

Great recipe! We have made these a few times already, and will definately make them again. The balsamic vinegar goes perfectly with the mushrooms. This time we lightly toasted the buns and served them with just the cheese. It was perfect.

Broccoli Cheese Soup VI

This soup was just ok. It was all eaten, and no one complained, but the flavor seemed to be really lacking. I added a lot more cheese as other reviewers have suggested, and I'm really glad I did. I even thought it could have used some more. It's definitely a passable recipe, but next time I make broccoli cheese soup I will look for a different one.

Baby Carrots And Brussels Sprouts Glazed With Brown Sugar and Pepper

The recipe was great. I made it to bring to Thanksgiving dinner. I didn't have any left overs to take home. Even people who claimed not to like brussel sprouts were complimenting me on this dish. I will definately make this again.

Bread Pudding II

This recipe was really good. I used cinnamon raison bread so I skipped both the cinnamon and raisons in the recipe. I also substituted brown sugar for some of the white as previous reviewers had suggested. I will definitely try this again, maybe with a few more modifications.

Crab Cake Sauce

We loved this sauce. My crab cakes didn't turn out quite right, but they were all eaten because the sauce was so good. I omitted the yogurt because it was the only thing I didn't have at home. It still turned out great.

Grandma's Gravy Recipe

Quick and easy! I substituted beef bouillon and it turned out great. It was just what we needed to save our overcooked brisket. We turned it in to excelent pulled beef sandwiches.
