About this Cook
I love to cook and bake, depending on the time and patience I'll attempt something that may be complex with lots of steps and attention to detail or something that is quick and easy to whip up with some random ingredients I may have residing in the fridge :) Outside of the kitchen I enjoy running, biking, spending time with the kids, playing at the beach and any opportunity to be with my friends, which is often hard with time schedules, work obligations and that we live in different corners of the states. I am an avid wine connoisseur and enjoy a dark stout during the summer time. Lastly, an area in my life that I'm striving towards is simplifying and making life a little bit easier, abundant and peaceful - I believe it is essential to give in order to receive.
My favorite things to cook
Pretty much anything as long as the end result is satisfying.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cookies on Christmas Eve to make plates and baskets for our neighbors. Also Easter ambrosia salad is a fav!
My cooking triumphs
First time I served up Thanksgiving for my side of the family. Everything came out divine down to the twice baked yams.
My cooking tragedies
Generally any time I'm adjusting to a new stove...electrics take longer than gas, and if you have food burned on the bottom of the stove, take the time to clean it up, otherwise your sweets may come out tasting like burnt cheese - yuck!

Iced Tea I
I followed the directions to the "T", I even seeped it for about 30 minutes and it was super watery.

Penne with Chicken and Asparagus
I made per the instructions and then later went back to review others (which I normally do before hand but was under time constraints) and would definitely add in mushrooms or portabellinis, plus veggies that are in season. Agree with others that it needs more garlic - maybe 3-4. I used whole wheat pasta from trader joes which contributed to some of the blandness, but overall with some tweaking makes for a good and healthy dish.
