Chocolate Cake and Chocolate Buttercream Frosting
Sour Cream Apple Pie I
About this Cook
I'm a student at UCSD in San Diego, CA.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite thing to do is frost and decorate wedding cakes. By far, the best job in the world, would be to work at Charm City Cakes in Baltimore, MD and make the cakes that they do!!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family isn't really known for it's cooking greatness. One of my Grandmothers can't cook at all. The other Grandmother is a good cook, but she's admitted that all of her recipes come from the Betty Crocker Cookbook!
My cooking triumphs
It took me years, but I've finally perfected my chocolate chip cookies recipe. I add a secret ingredient that makes the cookies AMAZING! My whole life, I wanted to be the person that everyone wanted cookies from. Finally, I've found a recipe that people think is amazing.
My cooking tragedies
I've made carrot cake each year for my best friend's birthday. Last year, I made her one from a new recipe. That should never happen; if you're happy with a recipe, then stick to it! This cake was absolutely awful.

Basic Flaky Pie Crust
Wow. This was amazing. I took the other reviewers advice and I added just a little bit more ice water and it was the perfect consistency to roll. I also didn't chill it before hand. I took it right out of the bowl and then laid it between two layers of wax paper, and then roll it out that way. That way, when I transferred it to the pan dish, it was about a million times easier than ever before! This was sooooo delicious, no one would believe that I had made it myself :)

Alfredo Sauce
I make this with half and half instead of heavy cream and it's still absolutely delicious! You definitely have to use REAL Parmesan cheese and let it all dissolve. Also, I always use atleast 4 cloves of garlic.

Scones
Fantastic! I added 1 tsp of vanilla extract and 1 cup of raisins to the batter. The batter looked a bit too thin, so I added about 1/3 cup of self-rising flour. I didn't want to mix it by hand, so I put the dry ingredients and the butter in the food processor, and then had the dough hook attachment incorporate the egg and the milk mixture. Also, I cooked them for about 2 extra minutes. They came out wonderfully and I got rave reviews :) I think that I will use this as my base recipe, and change out what I add to it. Instead of the vanilla and the raisins, I'll try lemon extract and blueberries next time...
