Frozen Strawberry Margarita

Reviewed: May 29, 2007
I made a few changes. Double the frozen strawberries and leave out the ice. Very refreshing, and since it is made out of frozen fruit (mostly) it must be good for you, right?

Ultimate Frozen Strawberry Margarita

I used half tequila half limon since my husband doesn't care for tequila. Very yummy, and with those frozen berries, I didn't feel to quilty. I could tell myself it was a healthy drink (compared to those bottled mixes)

Barbequed Ribs

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2007
I was worried the ribs would dry out while I baked them initially, so I put about half a cup of cider vineager and 1.5 cups of water in the bottom of the baking dish to keep them moist. I only let them marinate for 6 hours in the rub, but they were yummy!

Lobster Pasta

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2007
I made a few little changes since we are trying to eat more healthy. I used half and half instead of cream, and I sauted the onions and garlic in olive oil, then added the tomatoes to that to avoid the extra fat. I used canned lobster to bring the cost down as well. Over all, still tasty and a little more healthy, so I didn't feel quite as bad about enjoying it. Better fresh, the leftovers (at least my way) weren't the greatest.

Butter Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2007
Nice and moist and rich. I ran out of white sugar (oops!) so I had to use about half a cup of brown to make up the difference. I served it with fresh strawberries, icecream (vanilla) and a little drizzle of good balsalmic vineager. And my husband enjoyed fresh fruit!

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2007
Yummy! I used milk chocolate chips since that was what I had at home. I added a bit of vanilla, and used half a cup of brown sugar instead the last half cup of white sugar. My husband loved them. I'm guessing they would be super with peanut butter chips as well!

Golden Rum Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2007
I added a dash of cloves and allspice, along with a tablespoon of vanilla since I didn't have dark rum. The taste turned out most yummy, but it fell to pieces getting the cake out of the pan, even after cooling for 15 minutes. I served it with the rum sauce and a bit of whipped cream, and my husband thought it was very well flavored. I would have given it 5 stars if it would have come out of the pan in one piece.

Rosemary Roasted Turkey

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2007
Good Eats! I have never made a whole turkey (but the free frozen one from last holiday season needed t meet the oven). I used the turkey brine recipe from this site, and then I rubbed this on top of the skin just before roasting in the oven since my turkey was not into seperating skin from breast meat. The whole turkey making process is involved, but defiately tasty!

Garlic Mashed Potatoes Secret Recipe

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2007
Not bad! I used russets since that's what I had at home, and I peeled them. I used a little less butter, parmasan instead of romano, and a splash of skim milk, plus the garlic and oregano. I really thought the oregano gave it somehting a little special. I will definately use this concept again!

Easy and Elegant Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2007
Best pork loin/tenderloin I've ever made! I used of those flavored pork loins, and made a paste of the bread crumbs and olive oil, and spread it thinly over the entire piece. I baked it at 350 for about 45 minutes, and then increased the temp to 400 to brown up the bread crumb coating. Yummy!

Sugar Cookie Drops

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2007
I used 1.5 cups of butter and 1/2 cup of canola oil since I didn't want a super crispy cookie. They turned out great with the change, nice and soft with a tiny crunch at the edge. Perfect for decorating.

Easy Paella

Yummy! I cooked all of the "meats" in my wok since its my biggest pan, which worked out well. I used one can of diced tomatoes in with the rice since I like a little tomato with my paella. Our guests were impressed!

Emily's Famous Sloppy Joes

Pretty darn good, with changes for what I had in the house. I was out of bell pepper, so I used a can of diced tomatoes to add the veggie componant instead. I also used cider vineager instead, and honey rather than sugar. I served it in pita pockets since I was out of buns with a green salad.

Bread Machine Focaccia

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2007
I made few changes, but this was quite tasty. I divided the dough in half, and let it rise again before baking it in 2 pie pan. I used extra fresh chopped garlic, some dried oregano and basil, and a little more olive oil than the recipe called for. I added a couple tablespoons worth of sugar to feed the yeast. The results were great! I made it again with out adding sugar, and it did not rise as well without it.

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies IV

I needed a "nut free" cookie for a friend with allergies, and these were easy and tasty. Some of the dough didn't mix quite as well as I would have hoped, but a little extra vanilla for moisture worked great. And the extras freeze great!

Ali's Amazing Bruschetta

I followed the advice of others and added some balsamic vineager. I also added a couple cloves of chopped garlic. I think next time I will cook the garlic and onions briefly before mixing to decrease the bite of the flavors. Even so, people just kept eating and eating, and saying I was breaking their new year's resolutions!

Brown Sugar Smokies

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2007
I don't care for bacon myself, but these were great! I had great reviews from everyone at my New Years Party. I cut the really fatty end off the bacon (about an inch or so), then cut the rest in thirds. I pressed the bacon into a brown sugar and chili powder mix, then rolled, secured with tooth pic and baked. I kept them warm in the crock pot while they lasted!
