Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2009
I made this for as a dessert for a college Homecoming tailgate party. It was very easy to make and was very popular People fought over the last piece! I will definitely make this again in the future.

Herb Turkey Rub

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2009
I mixed this concoction up the night before and let it sit at room temperature overnight. I used dried spices instead of fresh spices and used half olive oil and half butter. I rubbed it under the skin of the turkey before roasting and it came out perfect! After dinner when I was removing the leftover meat from the turkey I didn't even have to use a knife! It was coming off the bone very easily - almost like a rotisserie bird! I will use this rub every Thanksgiving from now on.

German Sweet Chocolate Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2009
My mother-in-law always makes chocolate pie for my husband for Thanksgiving. Since she wasn't joining us this year I decided to make the chocolate pie. I wanted to make something a little nicer than the standard Jello pudding chocolate pie, and this recipe fit the bill. I used an Oreo crust and topped the pie with crushed mint Oreo cookies. It was a hit, and VERY easy to make! It was the first of the Thanksgiving desserts to be finished off.

Bake Sale Lemon Bars

These were so easy to make and were the perfect sweet treat! I made them for a camping / tailgating weekend... they traveled well and there were none left at the end of the weekend!

Bacon Ranch Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2009
This was a very simple pasta salad to make. I used halved grape tomatoes instead of a regular tomato. I omitted the olives and the cheese.

White Bean Dip With Garlic Sticks

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2009
I had some old hamburger buns that needed to be used up so I sliced them into 1 inch strips with a pizza cutter and used them in place of the white bread. The bread sticks turned out FABULOUS! I would give them 5+ stars. The bean dip was good but kind of bland. I think it would be better served with pita chips or celery as it tasted more like hummus mixed with pesto. I would give the bean dip 3.5 stars.

I brought this to a picnic and it got very good reviews. Not too sweet, and I liked the texture. I served it with whipped cream.

Pollo Fajitas

Good, but no better than concocting your own fajita marinade / rub.

Mini Ham And Cheese Rolls

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2009
I have made these several times... but I don't think I've made the same recipe twice! I have tried this recipe using various meats and cheeses, but what makes the recipe is the buttery topping. (I did omit the poppy seeds.)

Dill Vegetable Dip

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2009
Delicious! I will never purchase pre-made veggie dip from the store again because this dip took less than 2 minutes to prepare, and it tasted 10 times better than any dip I have ever purchased!

Dark Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2009
Perfect in every way! I made this for a friend's birthday. I used a Chocolate Ganache recipe from this site as the icing. I contemplated omitting one layer, but I am glad that I left it as a 3-layer cake because it looked much more professional. And it tasted GREAT!!!

Chocolate Ganache

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2009
I used this to ice the Dark Chocolate Cake I from this site. There was just enough to cover the three layer cake. It was the perfect consistency and tasted great. I used Ghirardelli 70% Cacao Extra Bittersweet Baking Bars in this recipe and I did NOT use the rum.

Blueberry Buckle

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2009
This was very good, and this tasted very similar to the homemade blueberry muffins that I make. I ran out of regular flour after I made the batter, so I used wheat flour in the crumb topping and it turned out great! This is 100% better than another Blueberry Buckle recipe that I tried from this site.

Shepherd's Pie VI

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2009
I made this for St. Patrick's Day dinner and it was a hit (complimented by green beer, of course)! I did add a few things. I added black pepper and garlic powder to the ground beef mixture. I added a layer of frozen corn in between the ground beef and carrot layers. (The carrot layer wasn't even noticeable, so I don't think it's really necessary.) And to the potato mixture I added extra butter, sour cream, chives and garlic powder. I will definitely keep this as my go-to recipe for shepherd's pie!

Good... but make sure you use the freshest strawberries possible because otherwise they go south pretty quickly. I wasn't fond of the shortening used in this recipe.

I thought this recipe was just average, mainly because I could TASTE the shortening. I don't usually cook with shortening and will try one of the Blueberry Buckle recipes on this site tht doesn't call for shortening.

Chesscakes

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2009
These were GREAT! I wanted them to be bite-sized, so I used mini-muffin tins... and since I only had 2 tins (made 48 mini chesscakes), I still had enough leftover ingredients to make 4 regular-sized chesscakes. I used raspberry pie filling instead of raspberry jam and it worked great. I can't wait to experiment and make different flavors next time! I served these for a party and they were a hit.
