Lunch-Box "Handwiches"

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2011
If you don't have any frozen dough "Best Bread Machine Bread" from this site works wonderfully with this recipe. Place a large piece of plastic wrap on the counter, place the dough ball on top then place another piece of plastic wrap over the top, push down with your hand, then roll out over the plastic wrap. This makes less mess and you end up with a pretty good circle. Remove the top piece, add filling, then fold over plastic wrap, closing the dough over its self. Move the handwich to a plate to apply the egg wash. If you do it like this you wont have dough on your rolling pin, counter, or sticking to your hands.

Citrus Turkey Brine

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2009
Omit the step of "rubbing salt", it's not neccesary. I let the turkey brine for 2 days in the fridge, IT WAS PERFECT!!! We used the fruit and onions to stuff it with, along with some sausage. After that, we smoked it (13LBS) for 9 hours. Doesn't get much better than that!!! WOULD RECCOMEND TO ANYONE!!!!

Gramma's Apple Bread Pudding

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2009
I didn't care for this, just wasn't the way I remember bread pudding. My family however, liked it. I would suggest blanching the raisins, and cutting the bread into 1/2" cubes (mine were apprx 1"). The top parts of the bread were getting dry and a little hard during baking, so I added about half of the topping while baking to add moisture, having 1/2 left over is PLENTY.

Curried Chicken and Rice Salad

This is great and makes SOOOO much. What a great way to feed alot of people with a little meat! The rice can be scaled back to half, and is still good, but don't omit it.

This was awesome for someone who was so tired of the same old coldcuts on whole wheat with cheese for lunch. Thanks!

Loved it, and it worked like a charm. Sure beats buying the more expensive premade mix!

Pork Chops with Garden Rice

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2008
I changed the seasonings from italian to spanish (personal preference) and added some extra stuff like salsa and green chiles. This is a very versatile recipe, you can make it so many ways. NO CONDENSED SOUP YAYYYYY! Thanks a bunch!

Herb Rubbed Sirloin Tip Roast

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2008
I'm giving 5 stars for flavor. I personally preferred less salt and pepper, but that varies from person to person. The only thing I will do differently next time will be to try on a different cut of meat, perhaps a rib roast, as the sirloin was a little dry. It was wonderful cubed and put into beef stew though. Thanks.

Roasted Rack of Lamb

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2008
We didn't care for the bread crumb coating, it was soggy and we thought it really took away from what could have been a good dish. Won't be making it again, no one even finished their first helping, most of the rack was wasted. I liked the combination of herbs though, and the lamb was juicy. I prepared the recipe just as stated, before anyone assumes I changed it.

Original Steak Tartare

My husband made X rated noises while eating this, so I'll have to assume it was awesome, as I'm way too much of a ninny to try it. I'm making it again for him on father's day so long as I can get some more yard eggs (don't trust grocery store eggs for this recipe).

Very very yummy, I don't think it even took 15 mins b/c I used preminced garlic. Highly recommended. Thanks!

Definetly use broth instead of water and bullion. I used dark meat (personal preference). With the broth 5 stars, without only 4 stars.

Ginger Garlic Paste

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2008
EASY EASY EASY!!! What a money saver! I can't understand someone having a hard time making this. I used a veggie peeler on refrigerated ginger root (took maximum of 2 mins!!!), and pre minced garlic, with extra LIGHT olive oil as not to interfere with the flavors. Took me about 5 mins total, if that! Wish everything could be homemade this easily! Thanks!

Chicken Makhani (Indian Butter Chicken)

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2008
This is the first Indian style dish I've made. I used grouind almonds to thicken instead of corn starch on the advice of others, it added a nice flavor and texture, just be careful how much you use. I also added quite a bit more garam masala and used rotell tomatoes w/ chiles (pureed in processor) for an extra kick. My husband ate most of it before it was done (no lie). Thanks

Jenn's Out Of This World Spaghetti and Meatballs

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2006
Bottom of the line with this one is to use your own preferred sauce recipe - everyone has a different idea of what is good. The meatballs are great and simple. Cooking them in the same pot as your sauce also saves on clean up! Easy, tasty, moist, I'll give it 5 stars.

The Best Clam Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2006
I took the advice of another posting and decreased the butter while increasing the juice and wine (I basicly doubled the amount of wine). This definetly needs something else to make it complete, I used a salt free herb season mix. Add the clams about 5 mins before serving and garnish with parsley. I think maybe even adding a small amount of lemon juice would be good.

Hershey®'s Special Dark® Chocolate Layered Cheesecake

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2004
I made this cake for my boss' birthday - MISTAKE! I thought it was horrible personally. It was so bitter I couldn't get the aftertaste out of my mouth for 30 mins. I guess I should have known better than to make a new recipe for someone's birthday. I was honestly embarassed to have brought this for everyone. I am a pretty good cook, everyone I work with knows that, this tarnished my reputation. If you have a sweet tooth this is not for you. It looked WONDERFUL but the taste did not match. If I were to make this again ( which I wont) I would have to almost double the sugar. I'm giving 2 stars because my boss said he liked it; although I don't think he would have said so if he didn't.

Baked Potato Soup V

There is a local rasturant that used to make this once a week or so and I always stopped in to have it for lunch. Sadly, I don't get to stop in for lunch anymore but now that I have this recipe I won't have to miss it anymore!!! I agree if you want to save some for later then wait to add the sour cream until just before serving. Don't hold back with the toppings in the end!!!! DELICIOUS THANK YOU!
