Brie Cheese Appetizer

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2006
I also love this recipe! My recommendation is to use several sheets of philo pastry to wrap the brie (prevents leakage and also forms an attractive, tasty crust. Also, as an alternate centre filling, garlic and sundried tomatoes works well.

Easy Southwestern Salad Dressing

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2005
This was delicious and easy! I used jalapeno ranch and regular BBQ sauce. (We mixed it with a can of mixed beans and chopped tomatoes for a quick and tasty salad). Yum!

Marinated Flank Steak

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2005
This was so incredibly tasty and MUCH better than a bottled teriaki sauce. I fried my steak in a frying pan (on high, approx 5 mins each side) and put the marinade in the pan to cook with the steak. Delicious!

Grilled Strip Steaks with Horseradish Guacamole

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2005
This is a unique steak accompaniment! I didn't have any sour cream or yogurt on hand so I omitted cut the other ingredients in half (excluding the avocado - I used 1 whole one).

Stuffed Sole

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2005
We liked this. I was in a hurry so did not make the sauce - but the fish still tasted great. I also made a change. Since I didn't have shrimp in the house, I made a filling out of canned salmon instead (1 can of salmon, 1 garlic clove, 1 tbsp lemon juice, salt and pepper). We liked it!

Cindy's Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2003
This was flavourful. I stirred the pie half way through as others suggested - but this wasn't necessary. The pie didn't appear to be separating (I used fully melted ice cream), and stirring it really mucked it up. This makes enough for one large pie - but not quite enough for two small pies.

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2003
Perfect as is!!! We loved this!!! I added fresh mushrooms for the last 10 minutes. They were a nice touch, but on its own this is perfect. Hard to believe the very familiar tastes of mushroom soup and onion soup blend with the roast to create its own unique flavour. No one would ever guess you used something so simple to create such a great dish.

Bacon Chicken I

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2003
We LOVED this! I couldn't believe the regular taste of celery soup was changed so much by the flavour of the bacon! Excellent recipe. The only thing I would do differently is cut the chicken breasts in half (lengthwise) next time, as mine were quite thick and would have taken on more of the flavour of the sauce if thinner. My boyfriend also requested more bacon, so I may wrap each chicken 'half' in bacon next time.

Chicken and Rice Soup II

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2003
This was pretty good, butI would definitely add the rice at the end next time! I don't mind mushy, but the rice turned to liquid. I also added Thyme and Basil.

Baked Slow Cooker Chicken

I couldn't believe the skin would be golden - and not mushy - but this was fantastic! I will make this often!

Almost No Fat Banana Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2003
This tastes great, although the crust is tough. Next time I will add more apple sauce and bananas. The only thing I did differently was add blueberries - which was a great idea!!

Garden Basket Pasta with Clam Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2003
I found this to be good - but slightly plain. I will make again, but may serve with a less-heavy pasta such as angel hair so that the taste of the sauce stands out more.

A Catering Company's Marinade

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2003
I followed the recipe to the word, and marinated boneless skinless chicken breasts for 8 hours. Although the chicken was moist, it really just tasted like beer! My boyfriend and I really like beer - but this was a bit much. I used a regular lager. Should I have used light beer?

Scalloped Cabbage

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2003
This was good, although I would likely make a couple of changes next time. I would lightly salt the cabbage prior to adding the milk/cheese mixture and would also add more cheese (aged cheddar for stronger flavor).

Cabbage Patch Stew

We loved this! I used kidney beans instead of ranch-style beans which made this a lot like cabbage chili. Very good.
