Pumpkin Cookies V

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2009
Awesome! I added 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice to the cookie and nearly 2 cups of powdered sugar to the icing. I think that if I'd let the icing cool for about 2 hours, I wouldn't have needed as much powdered sugar.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Marble Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2009
This was a really moist & delicious cake. I had an abundance of peanut butter that I needed to use up so I used about 3/4 peanut butter instead of the chips. I also used a yellow cake mix because that's what I had on hand and made it in a bundt pan. I added the satiny chocolate glaze from this site (with a heaping tbsp on pb added to it). I said all of that to say that this recipe is pretty versatile and you can easily alter it with what you have on hand. The result is incredible peanut buttery goodness!

Zuppa Toscana

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2009
This was awesome! I used chicken broth (6 cups) and had to substitute spinach for the kale since they were out at the grocery store. I also used crumbled spicy Italian sausage because we like a little heat. Yummo! Now I have to find a recipe for bread sticks & salad from this favorite restaurant.

Terry's Texas Pinto Beans

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2009
I made these in the crockpot. They were good, but they weren't nearly as spicy as I was expecting. I had to add a lot of cayenne, salt and pepper to get it the way I wanted it.

Country Barbecued Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2009
This was really good and juicy! I used Chipotle Chile Powder instead of regular for more heat and a little smokiness and I seasoned the chicken breasts with salt and pepper before throwing them on the grill. I can't wait to make it again!

Salsa Chicken Burrito Filling

We've made this several times now. You can just eyeball everything and adjust to your liking. This recipe was really good in quesadillas too. We loved it, but it was not quite 5 stars.

Italian Sausage Soup II

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2009
This soup was really good! After all of the comments about the pasta ballooning up, I decided to use sliced potatoes instead which worked out well. I will definitely make it again this winter!

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2009
This is the best potato soup recipe that I've tried and I've tried a lot of them! I love that it is so simple and quick to prepare. I doubled the ham because we like lots of meat and added some garlic. We had it with garlic croutons and green onions on top. It would also be good with a sprinkle of cheese. Yummm! I'm so excited to have found this recipe!

Apple Blue Cheese Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2008
I thought this was really good and received several compliments. The only thing that I had a problem with was the blue cheese which seemed really strong especially when you consider the intensity of the balsamic dressing and the bacon. I added a big handful of dried cranberries which seemed to help. This salad does not keep well so don't mix more than you need. Overall, it was great and I will definitely make again, but with a little less cheese.

Mexican Corn Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2008
The flavor of this cornbread is great, but like another reviewer noted, it came out really soggy, more like a corn casserole. I baked it for about 20 minutes longer than the recipe suggested, but it never got a true cornbread consistency. The flavor, however, was excellent. I will probably try again and see if I can cut back a little on the wet ingredients.

Easy Mac and Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2008
We enjoyed the simplicity of this soup. A few reviews said that it was a little bland so I added more ham, garlic and black pepper. This is not meant to be complex in flavor, it's a comfort food. Loved it!

Caramel-Filled Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2008
Good cookie recipe. I thought it was easier to work with than what some of the other reviewers said. Keep the dough and the rolos chilled and it's not quite as sticky. The pecans added more flavor to the cookie and helped to balance some of the sweetness so I wouldn't leave those out. Next time I will roll them in powdered sugar and cocoa powder instead of the granulated sugar. I didn't not like the texture with with the sugar on top, but it was pretty.

White Chocolate Macadamia Cranberry Dreams

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2008
I've always wanted to find a white chocolate cookie that tastes like it came from a gourmet bakery and this is it! I think these would be fabulous with or without the cranberries. The butter and full tablespoon of vanilla are musts for creating the perfect flavor and texture in this delicious cookie recipe!

Banana Cake X

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2008
I really enjoyed this banana cake and thought that it was very similar to banana bread. I made cupcakes with it and added miniature chocolate chips to some of the cupcakes. You don't really need frosting with this cake. It's plenty sweet and flavorful enough by itself.

Normal Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2008
This was extremely bland. I took the foil off of the baking dish half way through in hopes that the sauce would thicken and stick to the meat. No luck. I added brown sugar as was suggested along with a little garlic powder and ginger. The sauce tasted good, but didn't really flavor the chicken (and I basted several times). If I try this again, I will probably marinate them in the sauce and season the chicken breasts before baking.

Easy Lemon Cookies

These were soft and chewy. Next time I might add a little lemon zest and fresh lemon juice to boost the lemon flavor. I have to admit, I liked these a lot better than I thought I would! :)

Alaska Salmon Bake with Pecan Crunch Coating

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2008
Great recipe for a busy weeknight! You can do all of the prep work in the time it takes for the oven to preheat. The flavor combination was pretty good, especially the honey mustard. My husband wouldn't eat it, but he only likes fish that's fried. :( I subbed dried parsley for fresh.
