Miriam's Not-So-Secret Challah

One of the best challah recipes I've used-- the loaf was 6x the dough height and had a great sweet but not too sweet texture. It also worked very well in density for the day after french toast. I did change the order I added the ingredients as another reviewer suggested (e.g., yeast + 1 c. warm water + white sugar, wait 5 min, then add brown sugar, 1 c. water, eggs, and slowly add in flour and salt.).

Broiled Grouper Parmesan

Very good recipe! We've made it twice. This time around I added Emeril's Essence (as other reviewers suggested) just prior to broiling the fish the first time and added one small shake of hot sauce to the cheese mixture (also reviewer suggested). The addition of those two will make this pretty good recipe a 5.

Very nice tea time or breakfast bread! Followed the directions exactly,and it turned out well. I did have to extend the baking time by 8 min, but that may be my oven...

Best Guacamole

I felt it needed a little more salt and lime juice worked better than lemon taste-wise. On a recommendation I also tried it again with about 2 tablespoons of ripe tomato, which made it even better.

Sweet Potato Casserole II

First time I made this it was good (4 stars)-- a fancy mashed sweet potato, but the 2nd time I doubled the nuts and added an extra egg, and it was much better (5 stars) as it had more texture and was more like a casserole.

Cape Breton Blueberry Grunt

This was awesome! Just like we had on honeymoon in Atlantic Canada! I had to use frozen blueberries, as good ones are hard to find this time of year, but it still turned out well!

Carol's Chicken Salad

Great recipe. The seasoning adds nice dimension to the salad and the veg/fruit additions really rounded out the flavor and made it something special. I did substitute leeks for green onions, as its what I had on hand.

Roasted Pumpkin Seeds

We love these! Very easy recipe with great results. I recommend boiling to clean and blanch the seeds prior to cooking and half the salt. I adore salt and it was still a little much.

Teriyaki Chicken

A great favorite with me and my husband. We increased the ginger by a half and let the chicken marinate over night for best flavor. We also usually make an whole seperate version of the sauce to add to the chicken afterward and to add to rice. Note the chicken cooks to an odd brownish color, but tastes great!! Great with rice and broccoli!

Apricot Brisket

The oven approach with this recipe left the brisket dry. The gravy was excellent and the sweetness matched the savory of the beef cut well, but in general, not the best cooking method for this cut of meet.
