Simple Country Ribs

This is a great way to make tender juicy ribs (or chicken). I use beer instead of water and that really gives it a savory flavor.

All Day Apple Butter

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2007
Ok, this is going to be a long review. I grew up eating my MaMaw's apple butter. I loved that stuff. Then I bought some at the grocery store. Let me tell you, that was NOT apple butter. I resigned myself to the fact I would never have "real" apple butter again. Then I ran across this recipe! Thank you so much. I cooked mine over 24 hours to get the consistency I wanted. I did cut down on the sugar and increase the spices. I love this on hot Pillsbury frozen biscuits for a evening snack. Thanks for the post.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2006
This recipe was very good and can easily adapt to your personal taste. I added poultry seasoning and some garlic powder. I used chicken broth instead of water. I threw in some diced potatoes. My husband could not get enough. Dumpling are supposed to be kind of doughy. I agree that a whole can is too much. I usually put half the can in the crock pot and bake the other half in the oven. My son is not fond of dumplings and my husband like to have both dumplings and biscuits.

This is my recipe and I am thrilled you all are loving it! Here is the recipe for Bill Echols Taco Seasoning. It really makes this recipe. 1 tablespoon chili powder 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder 1/4 teaspoon onion powder 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano 1/2 teaspoon paprika 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin 1 teaspoon sea salt 1 teaspoon black pepper

This is wonderful! I used the Irish Cream Liquer recipe from this website. Served for company and everyone asked if they could take some home. Now I am just going to have to make another one. Thanks for the post.

Baby BLT

WOW!! These are certainly tasty little devils. My six year old loves them. I am not a huge tomato fan but I loved them too. Guests were fighting over the last one and decided to cut in half!! The only thing I think I might change next time is to use 1/2 mayo and 1/2 cream cheese (maybe garden vegetable). I just think that would help the "oily" consitancy. Thank you so much for the post, Angela. Update: Tried this with 1/2 mayo & 1/2 garden vegetable cream cheese. Even yummier!

Asparagus with Parmesan Crust

This was the hit! I forgot the balsamic vinegar but nobody seemed to care. Served with Easter dinner. Nice and quick...cooked while the turkey was being carved. Thanks for the post, Kimber!

Holy Smoked Bacon and Mushroom Penne

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2005
My son and I LOVED this recipe! The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is that my husband found it lacking in flavor (his taste buds must be on vacation). I did add onion as previously suggested. Next time I do think I will add some diced chicken and replace some of the broth with white wine to add some more flavor. Thanks for the post.

Slow Cooker Stuffing

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2005
YUM!! I LOVE this recipe. I had never thought to cook stuffing in the crock pot but don't think I will ever do it any other way. Beware not to over soak the stuffing. You lose very little liquid in the crockpot. This recipe is also very adaptable depending on your personal taste. I am already planning on making this again for Easter. Thanks for the new tradition Gayle!

Texas Pork Ribs

These ribs were awesome! I just used the rub recipe. We were going to serve bottled bbq sauce on the side, but, one taste of these tender, juicy ribs we decided no sauce was needed! These will definately appear on the menu often. Thanks for the recipe, Laura!

New England Clam Chowder II

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2005
Really good recipe. Only reason I didn't give it 5 is I will make a couple of changes next time. I will add celery when cooking the onions & potatoes. Also I will not drain the clams and maybe add some more. I did thicken at the end with a corn starch mixture as we like our chowder thick. Thanks for the post.

Beef Parmesan with Garlic Angel Hair Pasta

This was a simple and tasty recipe. I found the meat a little "chewy" but that is to be expected with cube steak. It was a nice change for my red sauce loving family.

Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2005
This recipe was really easy and very tasty. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 is because it was a bit salty. Next time (and there will be a next time) I will use low sodium soup and quarter some potatoes to help with that. I browned the hamburger patties the night before. Then the next morning threw it all in the crockpot and was off to work. Thanks for the post.

Charleston Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2005
YUMMY! We eat breakfast for dinner at least once a week and this recipe will be making frequent appearances at my table. Everyone loved it. Left out the peppers, only because I didn't have any, and it was still awesome. I also misread the recipe and thought it called for dry mustard. I thought 1 tablespoon was an awful lot so I only put in 1/2tsp. It was perfect! Thanks for the post, Scott! Update: I make this for guests with fresh spinach and smoked gouda cheese. They made me queen for the day!

Wild Rice Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2005
This is a really good soup. I had ham left overs so I used that instead of sausage. I also threw in some fresh garlic and it was wonderful. I may try this next time with white rice since my son is not a wild rice fan.

Firecracker Grilled Alaska Salmon

We did like this recipe quite a bit. I didn't have any ginger on hand and I think in was sorely missed. I can't wait to try it with the ginger. I also think next time I will cook the salmon in foil on the grill. Ours was a bit dry but no fault of the recipe.

This recipe just didn't do it for my family. My son & I both ended up having a bowl of cereal for dinner. The flavors just didn't seem to mix well. I also thought it was a bit dry. Sorry.

Broiled Lemon and Garlic Tiger Prawns

My husband LOVES shrimp...me, not so much. I loved this one though. The first time I made it, it was WAY to hot to turn the oven on. So, I put the shrimp on foil, poured the sauce over the shrimp and sealed it up. Put it on the barbeque grill for about 10 minutes...oh my, so tasty!

Coconut Shrimp I

Really good company recipe. It always impresses. I'll agree that it is a bit messy to make but it is so worth it! Don't forget to refrigerate the shrimp for 30 minutes or longer. They hold up so much better when frying.
