About this Cook
I'm a children's librarian and the mother of 2 girls. My husband is Filipino-American, I'm Jewish American and our home cuisine spans a wide range of foods
My favorite things to cook
Pretty much everything I cook, especially with seasonal veggies from my garden and the farmer's market!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandma's spaghetti sauce and my other grandma's pink applesauce and potato latkes.
My cooking triumphs
Making sticky buns from my mother-in-law's recipe that are almost as good as hers! And the Chanukah bash I throw at work every year--I cook the latkes right at work and bring in lots of homemade cookies and my renowned cheesecake.
My cooking tragedies
I am still trying to master "New York" pizza, bagels and Jewish rye bread, none of which I can get in my current area!

London Broil I
Wonderful. I went with the half soy/half Worcestershire sauce variation and used lots of chopped bottled garlic. My picky 9 year old liked it, my 13 year old liked it, my garlic loving husband loved it, and so did I. Definitely a keeper.

Fried Rice Restaurant Style
I think this is a good base recipe for friend rice. I'd omit the sesame oil--I use it in a lot of dishes, but here it doesn't fit the flavor people expect in fried rice. I didn't use it and really tasted like restaurant fried rice to my girls! I too cooked the eggs like an omlette, then rolled it up and chopped it into the rice. I also added some chopped up chicken. We always have lots of leftover cooked rice (husband's Filipino-American!) so I didn't have to make rice, and I used a bag of frozen mixes veggies. Both girls liked it, though my 12 year old wants me to add shrimp next time. And she also thought a little onion would be good too, which makes her onion loving papa proud!
