About this Cook
Born and raised on a farm in Western Washington. My mom taught me the basics of farm fresh food.So when I cook its as fresh as I can get.I just finished building my log home, so now I can create a new garden.Nothing like fresh vegi's in my meals. While building I could'nt have a garden so I had 20+ 5gal buckets to grow tomatoes.
My favorite things to cook
Anything fresh from the area, Local farmers markets, salmon, shellfish and dungeness(sp?) crab from Hood Canal, fresh chantrelle mushrooms from the woods on my property or trout from the lake I live on.
My favorite family cooking traditions
The grandkids say that they have to have what we call "Old man fingers" which are just thin sliced salame with cream cheese rolled up inside. If I don't have this at every holiday get together I'm in trouble.

Halibut Supreme
I tried this last week and it couldn't have been any easier to make..Followed the recipe exactly and it came out moist and tender with alot of flavor and the topping did not overpower the halibut.Good job.

Diane's Colcannon
WOW.this was great. now instead of just mashed potatoes I'll be using this recipe.fast, easy, great flavor..I did use sour cream instead of the milk when mixing the potatoes(I was out of milk)..I will double the recipe next time.I think using the leftovers to make fried potato cakes sound good...thanks Diane for a great recipe...Karen
