About this Cook
I work fulltime at a local hospital as a Lab Tech. And I own a catering business on the side. I am a mother of two and I am married to the most amazing man in the world. Sorry ladies, I found the best guy out there. I have started trying to teach my kids to cook. I am having a harder time with it than they are.
My favorite things to cook
I usually end up cooking the quick and easy thing for supper. Omelets, grilled chicken or homemade pizzas. I spend so much time cooking for other people lately that my own family suffers. When I get the chance I love to try new recipes. Especially Mexican dishes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom loves to tell people that I learned to cook from her and how she is a great cook. Well I hate to break it to you mom but your cooking sucks. I like to think that I inherited my cooking skill from my grandmother. According to the stories she was an amazing cook. Unfortunately I cannot remember her. I have always been in love with the idea of food bringing people together and spending hours around the table with good food, friends, and wine. My passion for cooking comes from the idea of slowing down and enjoying our meals.
My cooking triumphs
I think my first real cooking triumph came when I made homemade tomato sauce for the first time ever. My mom never has bought jarred sauce again and I am still required to make it for her. I started my love of baking when I tried making peach pie for the first time. I made 6 pies and took them to all of our neighbors. Oops, I didn't leave one at home for my own family. My mom was a little upset because she had purchased the case of peaches for me.

White Chip Chocolate Cookies
Excellent. Followed the recipe exactly except that I used white choc chips and peanut butter chips. Yummy

Angel Hair Pasta with Lemon and Chicken
My whole family enjoyed the recipe, included my picky youngest. I added chives and some olive oil. I think next time I am going to use lemon zest also and maybe fresh garlic for added flavor. My whole family agreed that the recipe was a keeper with a little jazzing up.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies
Made several changes to the cookies. My cookies ended up being flat, chewey centers and crispy edges, PERFECT. I didn't flatten before baking. Used honey instead of molasses, half brown sugar, half white sugar. Pumpkin pie spice instead of cinnamon and nutmeg. Half ginger and added chopped crystalized ginger.
