About this Cook
My cooking tragedies
I once made a strawberry cake and did something wrong to the strawberry frosting. It kind of liquified itself and slid off the layers in big globs and ended up looking like some kind of organ (the kind you take out of a body!). It was so repulsive that no one would eat it and we still remember it as The Cake From Hell.

Crabby Cliff's Mushroom Puffs
These were gobbled up quickly at my Halloween party. I used homemade puff pastry. I think a person could really experiment with the filling -- go with all mushrooms, use chicken or shrimp, etc. I will be making these again. Thanks, Cliff!

Chiles Rellenos Pie
I am a chile relleno freak. And let me tell you, this recipe is the closest you'll ever come to a real stuffed chile without actually stuffing one. Be sure to use fresh roasted and peeled poblanos to line the dish. The only thing I did differently was to top the casserole with my own homemade green chili (containing tiny cubes of pork, chopped green chiles, garlic and jalapenos and a bit of tomato) instead of using salsa. Next summer I may be making this pie instead of traditional rellenos!

Tacos in Pasta Shells
Pretty good as written. Next time I will try adding more cream cheese and some chopped jalapenos and tomatoes. I think this would be popular at a pot-luck because the concept is unusual but it tastes good. Makes good leftovers, too.
