Creme Brulee French Toast

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2008
I've been making this for years, and every birthday when my 5 kids get to choose what dinner they want, they always pick this. I've used Texas Toast and cut it into smaller pieces so it makes a bigger pan of goodies, and easier to eat.

Cheesy Ranch Chex® Mix

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2008
It's not too bad, it quenches the savory fiend in me. I did a half and half mixture with pretzel sticks and twists. As suggested, mix it in a large paper bag, as the ranch tends not to mix very well with the cheese and you get clumps.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2008
THIS is a recipe that I will covet! I've made a butterscotch version as well and those were inhaled. This is by far the best chocolate chip recipe I've made, and even my teenagers can make it. It's SO SIMPLE! I've made no changes to the recipe, it's great as it is. I always use an airbake sheet with parchment paper, and mine are perfect every time I make it. EVERY time..

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2008
I changed it around a bit, but it was still the best my family has ever had. I've made 2 of these, one with honeycrisp apples and 1 with gala. Honeycrisp was by far the best, but at almost $13 for 8 apples, we wont make that too often. I also put the apple slices in a freezer bag and tossed in about a tbsp of cinnamon and vanilla and shook it up. Oh, and if it hasn't been spoken before, use one of those apple slicers you find in the kitchen gadget aisles. Cut down on the whole coring and slicing bit.

These have a special spot in my holiday baking box. I can never keep them around for very long, I tend to have to make a double batch and hide them from the hubby.

Russian Tea Cakes I

This is a great recipe, I use almond extract and chopped pecans instead. I also tried this year to dip them in dipping chocolate, and sprinkle it with finely chopped pecans.. Needless to say, the response was overwhelming! Everyone loved the combination and begged me to make more.

Olga's Potica

I have a similar recipe given to me by my MIL that has been passed down through her Slovanian family for years. We make a HUGE batch (5 loaves) and the easiest way to cut the loaves is to use unflavored dental floss. It also helps if you use a large cheese cloth to aid in rolling the dough..

Southern Fried Cabbage

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2005
My boyfriend asked me to make him some fried cabbage for dinner. O_o Needless to say, the idea made my stomach turn, but I found this recipe and tried it anyway. It was good! I used a bit more bacon since he likes the flavor and a sweet onion with a little less sugar. Between the two of us, we finished a whole head of cabbage!
