I'm a 30-ish (although I'll deny it) married Mom. I have 5 children and a Husband who is a lot like the 6th child. I'm the main chef in the house, because I enjoy it. If I left it up to my husband, we would have something slapped on the grill 365 days a year. Every Christmas season, I made between 13 and 20 different cookies and candies for the family and they look forward to it every year. There are a select few that keep in the recipe box, mainly because they are tried and true, but it's also because if I didn't make them, the family would revolt. I'm always looking for something new to make and test on the bottomless pits!
My favorite things to cook
I love baking!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I just married into a Slovanian family, and the ladies of the family get together and make Poticia before Christmas. It's very time consuming and labor intensive, but I look forward to it every year.
My cooking triumphs
Hands down, the Poticia.
My cooking tragedies
Something I should have known.. I was making a champange cake for my daughter's 14th birthday at my MIL's house. I love her to death.. she can't bake. I didn't have shortening and didn't have enough time to pick some up. The MIL insisted I use margarine. "Just don't use salt, it will be fine." It was HORRIBLE!! I had to use margarine for the frosting too..
*hangs head in shame*
