About this Cook
I am an minister's wife of 28 years and a secretary/caterer; 22 of those years my husband has been an air force chaplain. We and our three children have eaten our way around the world and learned the cultures and faiths of many peoples and have served the cuisines of many different countries. I've been to two culinary schools but have never finished a degree.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake breads and desserts. My favorite events to host or cater are heavy appetizers and desserts. I would say my favorite cuisine is Mediterranean.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My two sisters and I grew up helping my mother cook her Sicilian specialties and and many Eastern European delights for my Ukrainian father. Both parents grew up in New York City, and we were raised not too far from there. We were exposed to a broad spectrum of cuisines from an early age.
My cooking triumphs
I've catered some nice change of command ceremonies, small weddings, even a new house blessing party. They have all been special and excellently received.
My cooking tragedies
Can't think of any that I haven't been able to turn into something workable.

Sweet-n-Sour Kielbasa
Super easy; always well received. I usually use grape jelly since that's what I have on hand. Do try!!!

Classic Fish and Chips
I used swai (basa) fillets with this recipe and it turned out great. I chilled the batter an hour before using, as suggested by a reviewer, and sure enough, the batter thickened nicely. Keeping the temp steady was easy with an electric skillet. Will definitely use again!

Absolutely the BEST Rich and Creamy Blue Cheese Dressing Ever!
I thought it was too sweet. Next time I'll use just a dash of sugar or more cheese. MMMMmmm, more cheese!
