Daddy's 'If They'da had This at the Alamo we would'ha WON!' Texas Chili
I made this recipe for a chili cookoff at work last year. I left out the jalapeno (didn't have any). I cooked ground turkey in beef broth, didn't add salt or water because it was in the beef broth. I doubled the garlic, cut the ground red pepper in half (some people don't like it really hot). I used tomato puree instead of tomato sauce. I came in third. I think if I had added beans I would have ranked higher. I'm making this again this year with two kinds of beef and other changes. I can't give away all my secrets yet but will post again if it is a success.
