About this Cook
Recently became a SAHM to 5 kids, 2 dogs, 2 horses, 6 cats & married to a great guy who likes to eat!
My favorite things to cook
Anything that tastes good, and will get eaten.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My dad always made me my favorite potatoes for my birthday (instead of cake, I guess). I always make my kids' cakes - never buy, even if they aren't as "lovely!" :) They love that I do that for them. My oldest doesn't like to cook, and the second oldest is just starting to cook with me. I'm sure we'll start establishing some soon. :)
My cooking triumphs
No one particular one...just that since I've been on this site, I have learned to experiment alot, and my cooking has gotten sooo much better. Altho I've been "cooking" a long time, probably 3/4 of the time has been Mac N Cheese stuff! :)
My cooking tragedies
Put it this way - I can burn water! :(

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I
OMG. Omitted nuts, and switched chocolate chips for peppermint chips. Replaced 1 tsp. of vanilla extract with pure peppermint extract. Subbed half white sugar with brown sugar. These were to DIE for. If you are having a chocolate fit, these will sooooo fix it. Yes, they should be a bit soft at the end, they cool and are perfect. I did 10 minutes and they were good. I did 11 minutes and they were even better - it gave the edges a chewiness that was awesome. Thanks for this recipe - will be a keeper forever. :)

Grandma's Brown Sugar Drop Cookies
I made them exactly per instructions, oh wait - no I added an extra half cup of flour and two cups of chocolate chips...12 minutes baking time. Dough was soft, not a firm cookie dough. I didn't have time to refrigerate, it could have helped. I think maybe there was a little too much baking soda - I couldn't really taste it but it seemed just a bit "off." Overall, a good tasting cookie...might try again with reducing soda and adding a bit more sugar. I wanted a brown sugar drop cookie I never heard of them before, and a friend gave me some of hers (she added chocolate chips) and I wanted the same thing...not quite though. Thanks for the recipe. :)

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies
These were good, as far as chocolate chip cookies go. They were crispy on the edge and chewier in the middle, although not really "chewy." I followed instructions exactly - they took me 12 minutes per batch. Kids liked 'em - I'm just a picky gal. :) Thanks for the recipe!
