I ended this year with a few new "toys".  My parents gave me an I-Pad and I bought myself a new computer.  These new "toys" have taken a huge chunk of my time to figure out, down-load, up-load, fire-wire, re-charge, transfer etc......but, despite all the techno time and… MORE

About this Cook
My favorite family cooking traditions
Frying up tons of walleye and perch at the end of the summer. Its usually a lake neighbor event. Ok I don't actually cook this, my husband and my dad do.
My cooking triumphs
Turkey on Thanksgiving 2010 and the Prime Rib on Christmas Eve 2010. All credit goes to my convection oven and my husbands meat thermometer from Brookstone!!
My cooking tragedies
A torte....the bottom layer was too hard :(

Slow Cooker Teriyaki Pork Tenderloin
I didn't have red chile pepper or the onion but I made it anyway. I cooked it on low for 6.5 hours and it turned out perfect and moist! It smelled great after a long day of shopping. I used a can of chicken broth, half a can of teriyaki sauce and a half a cup of brown sugar. I then added some of the gravy to a sauce pan and thickened it with cold water and cornstarch. It was EASY and AWESOME :)

Brown Sugar Smokies
I needed a quick side dish that my husband could prepare for parents day at our son's fraternity. Since he loves these he was willing to do the prep work. He even went to the store and bought all the supplies! Friday night he rolled 120 smokies and Saturday morning we covered them in brown sugar and stuck them in the oven. Once they were done we put them in a slow cooker on warm and plugged it into a car power inverter for the two hour car ride. As you can guess they were a hit at the fraternity! By the time we got to the buffet they were already gone!! This is a great recipe, especially if you need your husband's help with a side dish.

Restaurant-Style Taco Meat Seasoning
I used with about a pound and a half of hamburger for the whole mixture. I will never go back to package seasoning again!
