I almost didn't make these cookies after reading the recent reviews, but decided to try them anyway. These are GREAT!!!! They are full & soft & even better the day after baking them! I halved the recipe & added 1 1/2 to 2 tsp cinnamon, ~1 tsp salt & used butter-flavor Crisco instead of butter. Even though I halved the recipe I used 2 tsp vanilla & ~1 1/2 tsp baking soda. Give these a try, they are incredible!!!

This made the best cookies & my 3 year old daughter really enjoyed baking them with me! The only thing I changed was that I substituted 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice for the anise seed. We got a bunch of compliments on these cookies!
