About this Cook
I grew up in the northern midwest. My family and I made Rapid City our home after my husband and I retired from the Air Force. I have always enjoyed baking and cooking, to me it is so relaxing to be in the kitchen creating the dishes.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to bake are desserts, breakfast dishes, breads, cakes and cookies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I make traditional German cookies and Kuchen. I also have a variety of English scone recipies that I make. As you can see I come from a German and Scottish background.

Spicy Slow Cooker Black Bean Soup
This is a very good soup to add to one's recipe collection. I did cut back on the heat and it still had a good flavor. I also, used my immersion blender to give the soup a little more thickness. Too top of the soup I added a dollop of sour cream, a sprinkle of cheese and served it with cheese-its.

Baked Fried Eggplant
This is a good simple recipe. I did increase the temperture to 350 degrees and sweated the eggplant after peeling and cutting it up. I also sprinkled the eggplant with lemon juice so the pieces would not brown. I did add garlic salt to my dredging flour so the pieces had extra flavor.

Chai Tea Mix
This recipe is fabulous. With snow falling outside and the temperture in the 30 degree range for the day, this tea just warms the body. I mixed up a recipe today, following the suggestions above the recipe. I also added a 1 1/2 teaspoons of pumpkin spice since the coffee shop I visit has a chai that tastes like "pumpkin pie in a cup". Thank you for sharing this recipe. I no longer have to pay $4 for a mug of chia.
