About this Cook
I'm a person of conflicting interests. In the summer, I love gardening, hiking, camping and outdoorsy stuff. Fresh foods take precedence - I have little patience for cooking during the summer. Once fall hits, I renew my interest in indoor hobbies: cooking, learning to crochet and playing computer games.
My favorite things to cook
Anything that the ingredients are not too hard to find. I'm not ready yet to venture into strange marketplaces looking for odd ingredients. Maybe someday, but not yet.
My favorite family cooking traditions
None. www.allrecipes.com is where I learned to cook, since I was raised on Hamburger Helper and t.v. dinners. My mom was pretty tired of cooking by the time I was born, hehe...
My cooking triumphs
Simple things, such as learning what spices will go with what foods, amounts to put in without needing a recipe, and every recipe I make that turns out great, plus being able to make it again without having to read the recipe.
My cooking tragedies
One time I tried a crockpot pulled pork recipe with homemade BBQ sauce and both me and my husband got really sick. I like to think the meat was bad, but he thinks it was my sauce. I was just learning to cook at the time, so it was particularly embarrassing!

Sweet N Sour Beans
I used butter beans instead of limas, but otherwise made exactly as directed. My husband agreed with me that these were by far the best beans we've ever had. They even look beautiful with a warm, golden color and the scent is heavenly. It looks like you went to a lot of trouble to make this, but it's super easy to make. And cheap! What's not to love?

Molasses Sugar Cookies
These have just become our new favorite cookies. In fact, they're so good I'm afraid to make more because we can't seem to stop eating them. Made them exactly as directed and they were perfect. I rolled mine in colored sugar for the holidays.

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies I
This recipe makes the perfect oatmeal raisin cookie! I made this exactly as written and they were incredible, especially the next day. They were chewy, not too doughy, densely packed with oats and had a wonderfully rich flavor with the perfect amount of cinnamon. I wouldn't change a thing!
