Savory Vegetable Beef Stew

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2011
really liked this. i skipped the salt and used low sodium beef broth. it has simple flavor that lets the veggies shine through. i added fresh green beans because i had some to use. it was a good idea to brown the meat in italian salad dressing. a keeper for me.

Spicy Grilled Shrimp

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2011
i didn't have coarse salt so i used 1 tsp. table salt, it was still just a bit too salty- but i don't cook with salt and don't salt food after, so i'm sensitive to the taste. it was spicy, good amount, not too much or too little. i put the shrimp on skewers to turn easier since i made a lot and didn't want to over cook. i'd like to try the variations next, like lime instead of lemon juice. a good easy recipe.

Blackened Fish

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2011
pretty darned good. i thought there was too much butter also. next time will greatly reduce it. i did it outdoors on the grill with my cast iron griddle, instead of in my kitchen. i also used tilapia, since that is what most people here in this house like. thanks, it's a good one.

Chipotle Sauce

Reviewed: May 19, 2011
very very good. followed recipe first time. second time i added other suggestions- some cumin, lime juice, garlic powder. i used it as a sauce for a beef, chicken, and seafood fondue dinner. we love it.

Curried Honey Mustard Chicken

Reviewed: May 12, 2011
really nice. i liked the flavor, it came out so moist. i cooked it for 30 minutes at 350, then it sat in the oven for a bit longer. it was a bit sweet, so next time i'll do a little less honey, but that's just personal taste. i really like the touch of curry flavor.

Old Fashioned Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2011
i liked this, the swiss adds a nice flavor. it came out grainy though, not totally creamy. every baked mac and cheese i've tried is grainy, so i think i'll do this as a stove top only recipe, and just combine all and eat it, because the sauce is smooth before baking and i really like this.

Sausage, Egg, and Cheese Scramble

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2011
this was good and basic, i use reduced fat sausage and low fat cheese to help my quest to not gain weight. i added some basil. also used cheddar/jack cheese. i also read reviews and used less milk. good and basic. would be great with potatoes!

Buttery Soft Pretzels

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2011
we made these tonight, they came out great. a little crispy on the outside and soft. maybe not as chewy as mall ones, but a much better flavor. i added a fair amount of water to the dough. it's fun reading the reviews to see how others adjusted. i think next time i'll start with less flour and add to desired constistency. in the end the dough was wonderful to knead and rose really well. the end result was so tasty and great texture. i could vary things to get different textures, maybe a little crispier on the outside. we had them with mustard.

Simply Delicious Rice Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2011
good soup for a cold night. i had beef broth, carrots, and celery i needed to use and did an ingredient search. it is- simple, and delicious, as the name says. i made as is and tasted, mmmmm. then i added the other veggies i had- carrots, green beans. then some sausage. topped with croutons. there was plenty of broth. endless possibilities.

Overnight Cinnamon Rolls I

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2010
made these for christmas morning, they came out well and are easy with the steps split up and rising overnight. they didn't rise that much in the fridge but did when sitting out before baking. the 375 degrees was too hot, they browned too much, so will do 350 next time. also, i will put more filling in next time, we like lots of that, and spread the dough with butter before putting on the filling. they were tasty and tender and a keeper.

French Toast Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2010
great! it did not come out soggy at all, as other reviewers experienced. baked for 55 min., 30 covered and 25 uncovered. goldenly crispy on top and soft inside. i had a 7x11 dish on hand rather than 8x8 so used that. it has a fluffier texture than regular fr. toast that you dip the slices and pan fry, and that's nice. it could use less sugar because i put on maple syrup. mmmmmm!

Waldorf Salad I

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2010
this is good. i gave 3 stars because the original recipe included onions which i don't like in my waldorf salad. so, it's a personal taste thing. but it really is a good recipe. also, this says 4 serving, it's more like 14! made a huge amount. i like more dressing so i increased the dressing amount. and, i always add marshmallows to mine.

Mexicali

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2010
i probably shouldn't be reviewing this since i made all these changes, but i think the flavor came out like the original. i put in some ingredients and this popped up. i didn't have cream of chicken soup so i used cream of onion, left out the onions, and added extra chicken broth and some "Better than Boullion" chicken flavor. no corn tortillas so i toasted flour tortillas. i cubed the chicken for easier serving from the dish. didn't have chili with beans but had "chili beans" with chili spices so used that. it was good! simple, quick to put together. it's not too pretty but that does not matter. thanks for recipe.

Amy's Cheesy Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2010
this is good, but very spicy and salty. the mushroom flavor didn't come through much. i would change it by using low salt mushroom soup, less of the garlic and herb seasoning blend (i had montreal chicken seasoning), and no fresh garlic since garlic is in the herbal seasoning. thanks for the recipe.

Mexican Lasagna I

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2010
this was a good easy recipe. i also cut down the water after reading reviews. i make my regular lasagna like this- don't cook the noodles and don't buy the expensive precooked noodles. this would probably be good with chicken instead of beef and green chile instead of picante. lots of possibilities.

Awesome Easy Pasta

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2010
good and easy meal. i, too, used half and half instead of heavy cream, and did a roux to start, even so the sauce was a little runny, but really it was fine once it's all together with the chicken, peas, and noodles. it makes a whole lot of sauce so i served the sauce and noodles separately, and have lots of sauce for another meal. will be great with shrimp too! much better than jarred alfredo sauce.
