Favorite Fish Chowder
This was edible, but it was not good. We ate enough to stop hunger pains and then pitched the rest of the pot. The fish and potatoes weren't bad. The broth - it tasted like we dumped the fish and potatoes into hot evaporated milk and nothing else. We didn't really consume the "soup" part - just picked out the fish and potatoes.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup
This the best potato soup ever, even without the ham. Made it exactly as written the first few times. Now I make it like this, and we think it's even better: Use 5 cups of potatoes add just enough water to cover. When making the roux, add the first half of the milk very slowly to make a thick paste. Go ahead and add the second half quickly and then dump it all in with the potatoes. This will give you a nice broth like consistency. Now add several ounces of sharp cheddar cheese and let it melt into the broth. PERFECT SOUP.

Bavarian Apple Torte
This was okay. Cheesecake and apples were okay. The crust was no good and I thought the instructions for the crust were really lacking. I was expecting something similar to a traditional American cheesecake and this was not it. The cake part was very bland. I might actually make it again some day for someone who likes desserts that aren't very sweet - but for myself, I'm not interested.
