Pita Chips

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2009
After reading the other reviews, I made the following changes - used olive oil cooking spray, sprayed pita bread on both sides before I cut the triangles. I sprinkled the seasonings on the bread (both sides), and spritzed a little more olive oil spray. Then I cut and separated the triangles and baked as directed. Next time I will use garlic powder instead of garlic salt because the flavor stands on its own.

Best Ever Sausage with Peppers, Onions, and Beer!

This was so good. I only had enough to make half a recipe which is good because the two of us would have eaten all of it. It came together easily and had an amazing flavor.

Layered Patchwork Soup Mix

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
I made this soup "as is" since I planned on giving it out as gifts and I wanted us to try it the way it was presented. It is a good soup, and makes a LOT. For us personally, next time I will doctor it up a bit, add more garlic, maybe some bouillon, etc. For leftovers we added smoked sausage. I picked it over the myriad of soup mixes because it could be given to my vegetarian friends, and because it was so simple. Look for red lentils if you can find them. It was pretty in the jar, and well received. I put the spices in a snack-sized ziplock bag and stuffed it in the top of the jar. It all fit very nicely. I also used brown rice instead of white rice. Just a personal preference.

Tasted great. They were just very gooey and hard to handle and keep together.

Chicken In Basil Cream

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2008
I went from staring at some frozen chicken breasts to having a quality meal within an hour. Gotta love those kind of finds. I used half and half instead of the cream, and it was still delicious.

Grilled Lemon Herb Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2008
I have made this twice now and would highly recommend it. I did not have enough marinade left over to boil and brush on the chops while we grilled them, but we love them just the same. They are also great as leftovers, by themselves or as a sandwich. Great flavor.

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2008
This cheesecake tastes fantastic. Mine cracked, but I chalk that up to my inexperience. I still give it five stars because everyone loved the flavor, and it tasted as good several days later as it did the first day we ate it. Of course, we gained five pounds that week. Definitely not something I can make and have around all the time.

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: May 26, 2008
We all loved this. After reading other reviews and considering our preferences, I made the following alterations - added one chopped onion, 3 cloves of garlic (minced) and 1/2 cup chicken broth. I put it in the crock pot before I left for work in the morning, came home and shredded the chicken, added about 1/4 cup flour mixed with a little water to prevent lumps, and cooked it for about 1/2 hour more. We ate it with baked potatoes and my husband took leftovers and made a sandwich out of it the next day. Quick, easy, tasty, enjoyed by even the picky "I don't like chicken" eater in the family. And the ingredients are all something I have on hand. Great recipe.

Earthquake Cake II

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2007
Ohmygosh. This is so rich, so easy to make and so good. I used a Chocolate Fudge cake mix, melted the butter and softened the cream cheese. I still had to blop on the cream cheese mixture rather than pour it on, but the results were so yummy. I baked it for 40 minutes which was ample time in my oven. It is very gooey the first day. It tasted even better the second day.

These are fabulous. They reheat easily. I will try them next time without the salt or use unsalted butter. Sweet enough to be dessert.

Apple Shortbread Pie

I have made this twice now and it's turned out fabulous both times. I used granny smith apples. The crust is wonderfully thick, like shortbread. Those who usually don't like pie crust especially enjoyed it.

Easy Broccoli Quiche

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2005
In an effort to eat more vegetables, I bought the huge bag of broccoli at Costco and was trying to figure out how to creatively use it up. This recipe is quick, easy and adaptable. After reading other reviews, I cut the eggs back to 3, the milk to 1 cup. I was out of mozzarella cheese, so I substituted 1/2 cheddar cheese, 1/2 pepper jack cheese. I skipped the salt and melted butter. Thought it tasted very good. I did use a deep-dish frozen pie crust and had no problems with it overflowing.

Restaurant-Quality Maple Oatmeal Scones

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2005
These turned out light and delicious. The maple flavoring is subtle. When kneading and forming them, they were a sticky mess to handle. I just added more flour and persevered in getting them on the parchment paper. They baked up beautifully. To enjoy them the next day, I just zap them in the microwave for a few seconds to warm them up.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2005
This is easy and very good. I left out the salt and used unsalted butter. It is very peppery, which I like, but if you don't, beware. I ate this as the whole meal so I got about 1/2 the amount of servings it says. Also good with grated cheese on top, but good without it if you don't want the extra calories/fat. Reheats very well. Delicious.

Homemade Peanut Butter Cups

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2004
Fun project. I used semi-sweet chocolate chips and they tasted great. I left the mini-muffin paper on because they had a Christmas design on them and it added color to my cookie plates. I put the paper cups in a mini-muffin pan and they turned out perfectly round and were easy to fill. Scrumptious. I got 36 out of the recipe.
