About this Cook
I am a mother of 4 always looking for new recipes to keep my children happy and healthy. I find this to be a great forum. I am a Creole girl so all Creole and Cajun foods tempt my soul. My daddy is the greatest cook of all. Since I am married with children, I couldn't take him with me to be my chef so I have to learn these sills on my own. I am actually doing quite well and I love cooking. My main goal is to make Gumbo like my father and no recipe will ever compare to his. He makes it as he goes and I've got to learn how to create a bowl of Gumbo just like his.
My favorite things to cook
I really have no preference on what I enjoy cooking. I just love experimenting and trying new things. I prefer fish and chicken but I will try most anything if the ingredients sound like they blend well.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Did I say Gumbo already?
My cooking triumphs
I mastered the dirty rice!
My cooking tragedies
Other than the typical burnt skillet and almost setting the house on fire, none!

Turkey Bacon Avocado Sandwich
I made this for lunch today and my kids love, love, love them! I found a way to get in those veggies again. I always use 100% wheat bread and low fat mayo or Miracle Whip. The only real fat in this is from the bacon and I cook it on a George Foreman grill so at least a lot of the fat is drained. I will make this often.

Teriyaki and Pineapple Chicken
I made this recipe for the fam and they loved it! The only thing I changed was i added minced garlic because I did not have garlic powder. It's a great way to get kids to eat all those veggies!

Old Fashioned Potato Salad
I loved this recipe. I did tweak a lil bit. I added more mayo and mustard (to taste, no measuring) and a just a little bit of diced red bell pepper. Delicious. Thanks for the recipe.
