I am an extreme cheese lover. I put cheese on almost everything I eat. I am always in search of a new cheesy recipe.
My favorite things to cook
I adore pasta recipes, and I love to make authentic Greek, Mediterranean, Italian, Spanish, and the like. It's so much fun to bring flavors of foreign countries to the table. While I really enjoy exotic dishes, I also still love traditional southern cooking - comfort foods, if you will - like macaroni & cheese, mashed potatoes with gravy, fried chicken, corn casserole, squash casserole, you name it.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We traditionally add lots of garlic to everything we cook...well, spices in general (the more spice the better!), but garlic is essential. With our every day cooking we also use cayenne and onions in most everything we make. Our staples are garlic, cayenne, onion, and other spices such as rosemary, basil, oregano, and cheese.
My cooking triumphs
I have concocted many of my own recipes that I'm very proud of, and I've become proficient at some rather difficult Greek recipes (yum!). I particularly like my own Alfredo sauce. I've created a rather tasty bisque too. I'm still trying to think of a name for it.
My cooking tragedies
With all the food I can make - some rather difficult recipes at that - I still can't master fried chicken. (of all things! fried chicken!) I like a crunchy, spicy crust with moist chicken on the inside, and the crust eludes me every time. I haven't mastered the crust...YET! Also, I can't cut up a chicken to save my life. I've been shown, but the lesson simply didn't take. It makes me mad that I can't do that! haha ;-)
