Me
Apple Pie by Grandma Ople
About this Cook
I'm a newlywed (4 years is still new, right?) and a mommy. When I first made my allrecipes profile, I was REALLY a newlywed, and our daughter was just a twinkle in my eye. ;) Having a toddler certainly makes cooking more challenging, as meals now need to be healthy (haha) and kid-friendly. I hesitantly listed myself as an 'intermediate' cook. I think I'm really more of a beginner, but people say I don't give myself enough credit, so here's to being a more confident cook! Other than being a mommy and an 'intermediate' cook, I'm a photographer. I shoot people, not food.. so don't expect much with my photos on here!
My favorite things to cook
I love Italian food! My husband has to constantly remind me to try something different because I always lean that way - he says it's because Italian food is easy to cook.. but I'll be the judge of that.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making Apple Pie on Thanksgiving morning, while watching the parade. I made a big stink about it our first year, as it was our first Thanksgiving together as a married couple. Our second Thansgiving I was pregnant and tired, and the next one I had a newborn.. so they were a little less than up to par, but this year I should be back in full force!
My cooking triumphs
Well it's more of a 'baking' triumph - but I made a pretty awesome apple pie, and it was the first pie I've ever made! I was very proud.
My cooking tragedies
Kielbasa in the slow cooker. I don't know what I did wrong, but I came home and the apartment smelled like a foot, and the kielbasa was completely unedible. I love kielbasa but something went very wrong with that recipe...

S.O.P.P.
Very easy to make... would be great on a good roll. I only used 1 lb sausage and 3 potatoes and it was plenty for me and my husband.

Balsamic Tortellini
We enjoyed this, although felt it was a little dry for our taste. It's just enough for two people, assuming you have bread or something else on the side - next time I'll double the recipe and probably have leftovers.

Baked Penne with Italian Sausage
This recipe wasn't that exciting... basically just pasta with sauce, sausage and cheese. It was ok but lacking something.
