Freezer Caramel Drizzle Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2007
We loved this! Great flavor and the coconut/pecan/butter mixture is delish. I added a crushed Skor bar & 4 oz shaved German chocolate because I was craving chocolate. I'll definitely make this again--I can see infinite possibilities, but it's a keeper as is!

Slow-Cooked White Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2007
This was perfect for a healthy, low-fat, low sodium meal--I added more water and Penzey's soup base to make it more like a soup, but I will try it as chili also. I used corn scraped off the cob and another can of northern beans in place of the garbanzo beans. I followed the suggestion of TOBSCHOLARLY and mashed the beans of one can to thicken--it worked great. We garnished with shredded cheese, sour cream, and salsa and ate with Tostitos Scoops! Great recipe--I will definitely make it again.

Chewy Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2007
We really enjoyed the chewiness of these. I made some without chocolate chips for my husband who really prefers peanut butter cookies without chocolate and I actually liked those better! But the chocolate chip ones were very good. I added about 1/2 teaspoon baking powder to give mine some "puff", but I think I'll leave it out next time. I also used honey in place of the corn syrup. Great recipe!

Honey Mustard Dressing II

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2007
This is sensational--we had it with fried chicken strips and on grilled burgers this weekend and it was equally good on both. The mayo provides creaminess for the perfect ratio of honey & mustard. I might try it with fat-free mayo to make it more healthy. Excellent recipe!

Stephen's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2007
Loved the flavor of these! I might add a little more flour next time because I had to chill my dough to keep it from spreading too much. I like the little bit of puffiness the baking powder adds. I used all semi-sweet chips and only pecans. Good keeper recipe!

Turkey Dressing Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2007
Seriously delicious and so fragrant! I subbed WW pastry flour for 1/2 cup of the flour, used honey in place of the sugar, not as much salt, and I forgot the egg! Had to cut a piece & butter it fresh from the oven--yum! This should be awesome on a sandwich.

Sausage Cheese Puffs

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2007
Great snack to watch OU Sooner football I didn't have enough biscuit mix so I supplemented with Biscuit Baking Mix, from this website. I think the addition of baking powder makes these a little lighter. I used lean sausage and about 1/3 cup water instead of 1/2 cup.

Zesty Bean Dip

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2007
We thought this was really tasty. I sauteed in a cast iron skillet in about 2 teaspoons olive oil. I didn't have taco seasoning, so my daughter suggested cumin, then we added chili powder, onion powder & garlic powder. We used 1/4 cup salsa instead of the tomato and we added about a tablespoonful of diced jalapeno plus juice. Thanks for a good idea!

Southern Butter Rolls

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2007
Like Kiss-the-Cook, I agree that these are good but not memorable. I did some procedure adjustments per the excellent suggestions of Tunisianswife, and the texture was light and chewy inside, just not quite enough flavor for me.

Pesto

I toasted some almonds in place of the pine nuts and added lemon juice per the suggestion of IMVINTAGE (whose photo of the recipe is what attracted me to it!)This was quite delicious over Really Creamy Fettuccine Alfredo, from this website, and spread on some garlic toast--double whammy!

Ranch Dipped Chicken Fingers

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2007
These were delicious, but I had problems. Like MIASMAMA, mine stuck to my cooking-sprayed pan. And like LoveTo Bake, mine didn't get brown, so I finally had to broil them to get them golden & crispy. I didn't make the sauce.

Pumpkin Gingerbread

This is a wonderful combo of pumpkin bread and gingerbread. I made a small loaf, 12 mini-muffins, and an 11 X 7 pan to eat like gingerbread. Fragrant, moist, spicy, and homey--great recipe!

Pumpkin Apple Butter

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2007
My kitchen smelled so good this afternoon. It makes me happy to smell pumpkin and apple and cinnamon--it reminds me that fall is here! My only change was in the spices because I don't care for cloves--I added a little ginger instead. Super easy recipe, nice fruity overtones to the pumpkin, can't wait to try it on a biscuit! Thank you, Robbin Runtas!

King Ranch Chicken Casserole I

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2007
Any time my husband loves something called "casserole", I give a 5-star rating! The only changes I made were to use a can of green chiles and a little jar of pimentos in place of the diced tomatoes & chiles, and I added a little chicken broth. I did have to kick the oven up to 350, and it took longer than 20 minutes. Loved the addition of tortilla chips--very good recipe!

Chicken Cheese Chowder

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2007
This was a good comfort food to make for my daughter who is feeling under the weather. I didn't have carrots or celery on hand, so I subbed corn and canned green beans. I did not make the white sauce, just used the processed cheese, and I forgot to add the soy sauce. Before serving I sampled it & added a little salsa to spice it up. Delicious, even with my changes!

Crusty Rolls

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2007
Charles, I would say your sis-in-law did you a tremendous favor in sending this recipe, because these rolls are outstanding! I followed the recipe precisely, didn't have to add flour except to knead and to shape the rolls. They rose beautifully and the taste was out of this world good--tender, chewy inside with a nice crust. This recipe is a 5-star keeper--thank you!

Campfire Green Beans

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2007
These were a very nice change. I followed KJTries suggestion and sauteed the onions (I added a shallot) and garlic before adding the almonds (which I toasted lightly). I didn't take these to a campfire, but they were great with our dinner! Thanks for sharing, Glenda!

Dried Cherry Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2007
What a perfect little cake! It is SO good--tender, light, just sweet enough, and nicely enhanced with just a hint of almond--maybe the best coffeecake I've ever made. I used Stoneridge Orchards Berrymix of dried cranberries, cherries, strawberries, blueberries, & raspberries, and I left them whole. Soaking them in the hot almond-flavored water is a great idea! Super recipe, and one I will treasure--thanks, Melanie!

Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2007
I made 1/4 the amount of the recipe and it was plenty for my batch of Sugar Cookie Cutouts, from this site. I did have to add a little more sugar to reach the consistency I wanted. I like the simplicity of this recipe. Thanks for sharing, Diana!
