I turned 82 today, 8-22-06. I am widowed for 19 years. Learned cooking while I took care of an ill wife. Always liked to eat so easy to learn cooking. I like it because it is creative. Like to see results and enjoy challenges.
My favorite things to cook
Chicken - there are so many ways to cook chicken. Grew up in Texas with a lot of beef and fried foods. Have weaned myself away from these toward more healthy food and try to maintain good health that way
My favorite family cooking traditions
I roast a 5-6 pound roast beef that will melt in your mouth. It is "Chicago Beef" and can be baked in oven or stove top in 5-qt. cooking pot with several herbs and seasonings, including covering w/fennel seeds, punctured with many garlic pieces and baked @ 350 in oven or on stove top in 1" of water for 25-30 minutes a pound till done. Let rest overnight in fridge, then sliced very thin. It is wonderful.
My cooking triumphs
I just went through it in the above.
My cooking tragedies
SOUFFLES. I will never try another.
