About this Cook
I've been a vegetarian for over 10 years, and I live with my vegetarian husband. Thus, we're constantly trying to find tasty, healthy vegetarian meals for two (or at least recipes that make good leftovers later!).
My favorite things to cook
Anything vegetarian! I love to experiment and have fun in the kitchen. Baking is my favorite (but, admittedly, it's not so good for the waist line!), but I enjoy cooking dinner regularly, too. Mostly, I cook casseroles and pasta bakes, but my husband is the king of stir-fries and stovetop dishes!
My favorite family cooking traditions
For the first day of autumn, I make some cider on the stovetop along with some of the chocolate chip pumpkin bread (The recipe is on allrecipes.com. Delicious!). For Thanksgiving, we usually pick up a tofurkey from the local Whole Foods, but, this year, I'm determined to try to make my own tofu turkey! I found a lot of good possibilities on this website. Every winter, I pick a day to bake Christmas cookies with my friends and husband. We bake up a storm and package the best ones to ship off to family around the country.
My cooking tragedies
Spice cookies! Oh, allrecipes, how you failed me on this one! They smelled so delicious, but they cooled into a form indistinguishable from hockey pucks.

Amazing Pecan Coffee Cake
I've made this coffee cake three times now, and it always comes out perfect. The only change I suggest is increasing the topping because it's so good!

Cranberry Scones
I love this scone recipe and have used it more than once. I skip the glaze all together and add some orange zest and a touch of orange juice to the dough to get orange flavor that way. Yum.

French Bread
This recipe was simple and easy to follow. I kneaded it using the dough hook on my Kitchenaid on medium speed, and it did the job perfectly. I live in a dry climate and didn't need the full 6 cups of flour. I used just under 5 cups. The bread came out just as I'd hoped and was as good as a bakery's.
