I live with my husband and work-full time in education administration. I recently finished college and have started cooking again now that I have the time. I have one dog who comes running when he hears the food processor because he knows I will give him the piece of cheese that gets caught in the top.
My favorite things to cook
I don't really have a favorite thing to cook. I have favorite things to eat! I do like to try new recipes and I like to make things up as I go along.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving stuffing is my absolute favorite. Don't even think about giving me the sweet stuff. My family puts sausage and celery in ours and it's got a bit of spice to it. The secret is the Bell's seasoning (which comes in a box)and mixing the stuffing from the bird with another bowl of dry bread cubes so it's not mushy. My Dad's favorite is my cheesy garlic bread so I make that at almost every family gathering (My friends now request it too.).
My cooking triumphs
I had some friends over one day and I was trying to figure out what to make for dinner without having to go to the store. I live about fifteen minutes from any kind of store so it's not just running around the corner. Anyway, I threw together a pasta with garlic, mushrooms, canned artichoke hearts, heavy whipping cream, and parmesan cheese. My friend (who is a fabulous cook herself) still raves about it. Most of the other cooking triumphs in my house belong to my husband since he's done most of the cooking in recent years.
My cooking tragedies
On one of my health kicks, I decided to make a tofu dish. I think it was tofu spaghetti or something like that. It was so horrible that both my husband and I agreed to throw it out (and he eats anything). That's me taking healthy cooking a little too far.
