About this Cook
I'm a late twenty something wife and mother of one. I enjoy spending my free time spoiling my family and friends with food. Every night, after a long day of work/school, we sit down to dinner as a family.
My favorite things to cook
I cook a large variety of foods ranging from traditional north african(algerian) fare all the way to indian, asian, and american favorites. My husband, thankfully, is quite adventurous and enjoys the variety of foods that I prepare.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I always make a big breakfast on the weekends which usually consists potato/egg/cheese omelet which is a copy of a dish I ate in college at the Camelia Grill in New Orleans. It is my son's absolute favorite breakfast dish. We also eat traditional Algerian desserts each year for Eid.
My cooking triumphs
Perfecting my mchawek aux amandes for our Eid Celebrations has been my greatest triumph. For many years, they never came out just right. Just this late year I finally was happen with my results.
My cooking tragedies
Bread. I'm horrible at making bread, and although I've tried numerous times I've never been successful.

Creamy Pesto Pasta Salad with Chicken, Asparagus and Cherry Tomatoes
oh, WOW! This was just so good. I used the garlic basil pesto recipe from this site, added diced fresh mozzarella, and some extra pesto. I will definitely be making this again.

Simple Garlic and Basil Pesto
Great pesto! I used it in "Creamy Pesto Pasta Salad with Chicken, Asparagus and Cherry Tomatoes" by Pam Anderson from this site. I've aldo spread it on crusty french bread and in a pesto cream sauce for whole wheat pasta. I did use all pinenuts, but that was my only change.

Autumn Cheesecake
I followed all of chibichef's suggestions for baking minus the crockpot liner. I think the addition of the sour cream was a must. I've never had a cheesecake quite like this before, but it was delicious.
