About this Cook
I'm a military wife just living it up around the world. My husband and I prefer to eat at home rather than go out. Too many times have we gone somewhere only to look at each other and say "we could make this better at home." I hate chain restaurants....everything is salty, huge and fatty.
My favorite things to cook
Pizza! Breads! Anything Italian...or Japanese for that matter. I love to cook anything that tastes good and doesn't take 5 hours. And I like to find new ways to eat vegetables. Its tough living in Texas were coleslaw is considered a vegetable!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Pierogis for Christmas and Easter. Fresh from scratch lasagne on Christmas Eve. Waffles, muffins.........my husband makes the most delicious Mabo Tofu and fried rice. I could eat bowls and bowls of it.
My cooking triumphs
Getting my husband to like tofu. He loves it now. It cracks me up because he used to refer to it as "bad chicken" in stir frys. I think trying to eat vegan every now and then is good too. Its opened my mind to a whole new way to approach food :)
My cooking tragedies
Ive made a few revolting soups. Totally inedible. Ok. Ive made a LOT of revolting soups. My poor husband. I keep trying new recipes but there is only a few that have been edible. Ive messed up pretty much everything there is to think of.

Roasted Garlic Lemon Broccoli
Delish!!! I didnt use the full amount of salt. Probably half. This woukd be good with just red chili flakes too!

Harvey Ham Sandwiches
This was pretty easy but I think my crockpot overcooked the ham. The hamm was pretty dry. I did not use a full pound of brown sugar just because I was worried about sweetnes. This was good but you must serve it with pickles. It really needs that tangy counterpoint to the sweet mustard sauce.

Turkey Veggie Meatloaf Cups
These were really good! I liked the idea of adding veggies to them to make them a little healthier :) We did not do the BBQ sauce either, we used a little ketchup instead. My got about 12 muffin sized meatloafs from the mixture but my husband didnt measure the veggies. I think next time I will cook them a little longer so they can get a little more browned. Thanks for a great recipe!
