S'mores Bars

A great, quick recipe! I used salted cocktail peanuts and the tiny bit of salt balanced the dish perfectly! I also used 1/2 cup white chocolate chips and 1/2 cup regular - just to add some extra flavor!

Russian Rocks I

Very good fruitcake cookie - but these came out way too soft compared to the Rocks my great grandmother used to make. Sadly, I don't have her recipe.

Campbell's Pulled Pork Sandwiches

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2009
I was looking for something to make with ground meat in the slow cooker that was not meatballs or chili - so I came upon this recipe! I changed the meat in this recipe - I used 2 lbs of ground bison (browned first), and I scaled down the recipe by using: a 26-oz jar of mild, chunky salsa / a 14-oz can of whole berry cranberry sauce / 1/2 cup brown sugar / 2 tbsp prepared mustard / and 1/2 tsp. fresh grated nutmeg. I lightly salted and peppered the bison while it was browning. Came out very nice - served over rice with peas on the side!

Slow Cooker Split Pea Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2009
Thanks for this great recipe! I used a pound of red lentils and Andoille sausage (which I pre sauteed). I also omitted the bouillon cubes and added my own salt and pepper to taste - so I could control most of the soduim in the recipe (except for the sausage, of course)! Will use this again!

Carolyn's Oh-So-Easy Cherry Cobbler

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2009
Great recipe! I substitued real buttermilk for the milk and used fat free Bisquik. I also added a bit of anise extract - which I feel is a requirement in any cherry dessert! I have to admit - I was a little nervous after pouring all that cherry juice on top of the batter - looked more like I was making a jello mold!.....BUT - it really did all absorb and turned out fantastic!! I'm going to try this recipe with the same brand of canned blueberries next time!!

Cracker Dressing

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2009
I used this recipe as a base - since I had not only crackers to get rid of - but also some bread crumb stuffing mix and some cornflake crumbs to boot! I never thought to use milk instead of broth - so your recipe inspired me to use a combo of milk, buttermilk, and broth! Thanks for the idea!!!!!!!

Slow Cooker Sausage with Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2009
Good and easy! I used chicken Italian sausages. I put the sausages in frozen and left ALL day - came out great!! Wonder where some of all that sodium comes from? Start reading the bottles and cans of tomato sauce, crushed tomatoes, tomato paste....you will be surprised!!!!! You can find low sodium options - but you have to read a lot of labels!!! Thanks for the great recipe!!

Peanut Butter Cornflake Crunch Bars

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2009
Thanks! This recipe brings back elementary school memories! I used crunchy SunButter (a peanut butter alternative made completely from sunflower seeds). Also, I did take others' suggestions to use only 8 cups of corn flakes. Came out great!!!!! Next time - I will try the maple peanut butter I found at my local store! Oh - to the Canadian reviewer living in the UK who said these came out too "greasy".....I found when living in the UK for almost 10 years that many British products - peanut butter and chocolate included - had a lot more oil than their American counterparts! So - don't blame the recipe!! :-)

Quick and good. I took others' suggestions and used pumpkin pie spice (1/2 tsp.). I also used half white sugar and half brown sugar. I crave pumpkin desserts and this was perfect with whipped cream on top!!

Best Whole Wheat Chocolate Chippers

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2009
PLEASE NOTE: I would use the base cookie recipe here again - it is actually very good. However - I am debating on whether or not to even keep these after baking - the amount of chocolate chips overpowers the cookie! I love chocolate and these are just not up to par as written!... Might as well be eating a candy bar! Next time - I will add a MAXIMUM of 1 cup of chips for this entire recipe - or just eliminate them altogether and substitute 1 cup of brickle chips.

Good hearty rainy-day meal! I doubled the cornmeal topping and put the extra in a seaparate pan - just to have extra cornbread around. I also added Cajun seasoning to the cornmeal mix as well.

Chole Saag

Great recipe! I used fresh spinach and halved the red pepper flakes. I also used mushroom broth instead of chicken broth. Tastes great over rice! Next time - I will puree in the blender and serve as a soup with a drizzle of cream on top, with a side of Naan bread.

The Best Meatballs You'll Ever Have

The name is true! I used ground bison instead of ground beef. We had these plain on hamburger buns. My husband loved them and said they reminded him of the White Castle hambugers he used to have in college! Will use this recipe again!
