About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake! Cakes are my thing! I'm starting to make more rolls and breads. I've also been experimenting with casseroles.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love the holidays and making cookies with the kids. I get lots of icing and candies and have decorating parties like my mother used to do for us when we were children.
My cooking triumphs
I'm a Northerner living in the South and learning how to cook Southern style has been wonderful. I also don't eat much meat, and with the help of many ladies from church, I have learned how to make greens without using meat to season them. Homemade mac & cheese is the best! When I moved here and saw my aunt making it I was in awe, now I keep up with the best of them!
My cooking tragedies
I like to burn toast. Once I tried to make some homemade baked beans. I cooked them all night & day and took them took them to a potluck after church. The beans were still hard. I couldn't believe it. One of the best cooks in church told me to always add the ingredients for the sauce after the beans have fully cooked - she had learned the hard way also.

Chocolate Pudding Fudge Cake
I made this cake with mini chips and a thin layer of fudge frosting in a 9x13 pan and everyone loved it!

Vegetarian Gravy
This is a very good recipe. I had to almost double the broth because it is very thick, but it was good.

Rum-Pineapple Pound Cake
This cake came out great, though I did not use the rum glaze. I made a basic powdered sugar glaze with almond extract. Everyone loved it. And I will make it again using different flavored cake mixes.
