Blue Cheese Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2009
can't say it was not good, 'cause it was quite well liked. Only, I expected something different: I prepared it for a brunch and it came out as a pie with a crumbly crust. And was received as a pie by everybody, nobody at all questioned the matter. As I had leftovers and some other people to dinner 2 days later, I decided to warm it and serve it cut into little morsels, with onion and cider chutney. Well, it's been a hit!

Baked Brie in Puff Pastry

I used some blueberry&raspberry preserve, and nuts, and had the cutest little bries... they were pretty, if a little grasy, with melted cheese and all. Quite unusual but nobody raved about it, I must say...

Yum Yums

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2009
It's sweet, that's true, but really really good! the walnuts give it a "different" flavour and also a rough texture that almonds or other nuts lack, in my opinion. I tasted it just out from the oven and still don't know how it really turned out after a few hours. I doubled the recipe and baked it in a 9x13 inch pan and even changing the proportions, which is sometimes risky, I say thumb up!

Paula's Bread Sticks

easier, easier than you think! I used to buy them, never more from now on! my kids got a kick out of it, too, having to model these small ropes from the dough, straight from the bread machine! we put rosemary and onion flakes, they are a comparatively healthy appetizer or snack, better than chips anyway:-)

the biscuits are good, but it would be worth while baking just them for the scary effect! my kids went to a halloween party and they were the starsof the evening! deliciously horrible little treats:-)

Soft Giant Pretzels

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2009
first time in my whole life I make pretzels, well, maybe there are even better recipes, but this one seems pretty good to me! the bread machine did pratically everything and my little daughter and me, we had all the fun, making ropes and entwining them to shape the dough. They were baked in no time, and it's been fun too! They were very good with rich soft cheese or Praga ham and pickles. I'm a fan from now on:-)

Disappearing Marshmallow Brownies

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2009
I had more or less the same problems as stated by other cooks: the batter was hard and lumpy, I was worried of the final result, I had no butterscotch chips, they tried to stick to the pan (I had lined it with oven paper so no sticky pan for me, but still, you can see they are sticky...). But I'll sure make them again, I couldn't let them alone still hot from the oven! they are a TREAT really; can't wait to try with white chocolate chips!

Pumpkin Chip Muffins

quite good and simple enough; they turn out great without so much oil indeed. I put bittersweet chocolate morsels, I wonder, what if I had white chocolate ones and also, maybe ground pecans are a good addition?

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2009
very good brownies, rich and chocolatey as they come; mixed brown sugar and white, and wondered about missing nuts, 'cause I somewhat expected pecans or so to be a must. I was afraid they would be nauseatingly sweet, it was not so but I still think 3 cups of sugar is quite a big amount, thou. I had to bake for 30 minutes because the wooden stick was wet after 22 mins, but maybe I should have taken them out of the oven all the same, as I think the crust is a bit dry. These are the reasons why some great brownies took 4 stars and not 5...

really really good cupcakes! my children and their friends gobbled them up, still warm from the oven, so that the cream inside was really luscious. Absolutely a winner, and ready in a flash, too!

the cheesecake was very good and I made it in a jiff! only, I decided to bake first the crust (10 mins) and then the cake itself (10 minutes more). it got great reviews, and it's amazing, being so easy!

they are very good, I sprinkled choc chips over the crust and the result pleased everybody. Remember to put some foil under the crust or they'll stick all right to the pan:-)

Muddy Chocolate Cheese Cake

Reviewed: May 25, 2009
I followed the others' reviews and put it in a bigger pan; also, made several holes in the cake instead of a big one in the centre. And served it cold, because there was nobody around when it was warm... I cut it into squares and my kid's friends (they are 11) liked it a lot.

I was a bit disappointed with this recipe, was expecting so much! My kids worked on the cookies and the icing and were thrilled, but after tasting they said they were a bit bland and when cooled definitely nothing special. Sorry

amazing cake, I wonder how I didn't heard about it before! tried with cream cheese once and with ricotta another time, it was appreciated a lot, and you do it in a snap! 2nd time I put on the batter, before pouring the cheese mixture, pieces of milk chocolate (chunks coming from the Easter chocolate eggs), and the result was wonderful!

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

this recipe is everything that's been promised! good, easy, tasty, could you ask more? only, the cooking time is very long, and the delicious smell wafting from your oven - beware - must not induce you to cut on the time, otherwise the potatoes won't be properly cooked!
