About this Cook
Hi, my name is Tina. I am a mother of 2 girls (16 & 21) and 1 grand-daughter (2 yrs). Nearly all of my family is girls and women except for the men who "marry in". Yet, I am the only one who loves to cook. I love to cook but, love to hear that people like what I have made even more. I tell people if they don't like something.... lie...
My favorite things to cook
I like to make unusual things from everyday food. I am always looking for new ways to cook staple foods besides fried chicken and fried pork chops. I am from Texas where almost everything is fried so, I love finding different ways to cook things.
My favorite family cooking traditions
The only tradition I can think of is at thanksgiving when I have everyone who is coming give me 1 request that they want me to make and I make everyone's requested dishes.
My cooking triumphs
I pull off thanksgiving every year for about 13 people all by myself with only 1 oven and 1 convection oven. I consider that a triumph! LOL
My cooking tragedies
Mainly my cooking tragedies are recipes that I have never made before that SEEM like they would taste good but don't! When I make dishes like this for supper, everyone looks forward to going out to eat! LOL

Hazel's Meatballs
First of all, I want to say that the sauce is GREAT. I hate running to the store to get that one ingredient you just don't keep on hand. Everything in this recipe is something almost everyone has. The only reason I subtracted one star is because cooking the meatballs in the sauce makes for a LOT of fat in the final recipe. Also, I made this recipe with 1/2 hamburger and 1/2 sausage. That was MY mistake, NOT the recipe's. The sausage flavor was too strong for this sauce so, if you are thinking of doing this.. you shouldn't. Overall, the recipe was a huge success. Thank you.

Braised Flank Steak with Lemon and Garlic
I thought this was delicious. I loved the combination of flavors. I thought the cloves sounded odd but, since I really like cloves, I went ahead and added them. So, I made it exacty as written. Thanks alot!

Dutch Babies II
I agree that a little sugar and vanilla would add a little something to this recipe. I used to work at a restaraunt in Las Vegas called the Keuken Dutch. They served these 3 ways. Plain with powdered sugar and lemons, cinimon apple, and bacon spread with applesauce. When they came out of the oven we would literally have to run to the table yelling "Keuken out!!! Here comes your Keuken!!!" so it would get there before it went flat. What fun!!
