About this Cook
My cooking tragedies
I have been cooking since I was 9 yrs old and the one cooking tragedy that sticks out in my brain is the day I tried cooking my favorite dish..chicken and dumplings! My family is from the south(AL) and my grandmother used to make the best chicken & dumplings EVER! Well, since grandma lived in AL and I lived in Chicag she had to walk me through it over the phone! DISASTER!! The chicken part came out great BUT the dumplings were like ROCKS and tasted like paste!! I cried for 2 days!!! My grandmother thought it was hilarious which devasted me...but she was supportive and promised to teach me on my next visit. Now I am a pro at making them!! Thanks Gram (R.I.P)!!

Strawberry Spinach Salad I
Best salad ever! I substituted pecans for the almonds, added feta cheese like others suggested, and used balsamic vinegar instead of white...FABULOUS!! My kids even loved it!! Will make again and again.

Merwin's Shrimp Gumbo
Thank you Merwin! This was fabulous!! I took the advice of others and left in the chicken. I also used andouille as well as smoked sausage. There were NO LEFTOVERS!! Everyone raved about it and everyone has requested that I make it again this weekend! This time I will add crab!!

Shrimp Scampi V
OMG! This was absolutely the best!! I took the advice of other reviewers and added more garlic, 1/2 wine, 1/2 chicken broth, lemon juice and I also added a little cornstarch for a little thicker sauce...it came out PERFECT!! It was quick & easy and my kids gobbled it up. My fiance said it tasted better than any he ever had at a restaurant. I will definitely make again and again!!
