About this Cook
Crazy; that's a description I hear a lot. To be fair, that's generally preceded by the statement "I like winters up here (Fairbanks, AK) much better than summers". They just don't realize the simple pleasures of stepping inside from -40 to the smell of fresh baked pumpernickel and the radiant heat of the woodstove.
My favorite things to cook
Particularly fond of making breads, soups, and stews.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Instead of a traditional Christmas dinner, every year we'd sit down to a feast of homemade Asian (generally Chinese, but we mixed it up sometimes.)
My cooking triumphs
Nothing like the feeling of accomplishment when, after spending all week smoking, canning, vacuum-sealing, and cleaning, the last of the 450 lbs of salmon fillets are processed and preserved. (Then you sit down with a nice scotch and have just one can of smoked salmon).

Peanut Butter Pie I
It's like heaven in my mouth. Made as directed, except I bought an oreo crust. Quick and easy to make. Yum.

White Sauce
Versatile base. Love to add some Parmesan, Romano, and garlic for an alfredo sauce, or some chipotle tabasco and some smoked salmon.

Pillow-Soft Dinner Rolls
Great recipe. Light and fluffy. I used lard instead of shortening, and the rolls stayed nice and moist. Next time I'll use 1/4 butter, for added flavor. Will make again often.
